The largest abortion clinic in the state of Ohio has launched a sickening billboard campaign to encourage women to feel no shame for having an abortion.
Preterm, which runs the website MyAbortionMyLife.org, wants to “shift the public conversation on abortion away from the black-and-white political rhetoric,” Cleveland.com reports. The organization has created 16 billboards with the phrase “Abortion is ______,” filling the blanks with words like “life-saving” or “sacred.”
“We want to push people to think about abortion in new, diverse ways with these billboards,” Nancy Starner, Preterm’s director of development and communications, said in a press release. “We want the people in our community who have had abortions to know that they’re not alone.”
Reviewing each billboard, it becomes apparent that the pro-abortion argument relies on deception and flagrant contradictions.
Rights proceed from the natural law. There is no right, natural or civil, to kill another human being except in self-defense. Because it is absurd to suggest that the natural process of pregnancy is an attack on the mother, there exists no such case in which a mother needs to defend herself from the developing child in her womb. You cannot argue that the elective abortion of an unborn child is a right without fundamentally misunderstanding or willfully misrepresenting what a right is. You cannot claim a “right” against nature.
Pregnancy is not a disease. There is no “patient” in an abortion procedure. There is no “treatment” for an illness. No cure for “sickness.” Instead, a healthy unborn child’s life is ended. Abortion, which intends to kill, is in fact a direct violation of the Hippocratic Oath. Abortion is not health care.
This is backwards. “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.” Psalm 127: 3-5 ESV.
This is a common argument from the pro-abortion Left. But there exists no liberty to murder.
Actually, as human experience has shown, what is normal and best is for men and women to marry, have children, love them, and raise them so that they may do likewise. There is no natural process by which a pregnant woman can terminate her pregnancy. Abortion is unnatural and decidedly abnormal.
What kind of depraved doublethink leads someone to declare that a process that ends life saves life? The pro-abortion argument.
As reported by the Charlotte Lozier Institute: “Sex-selective abortion is a well-known problem in China and India, where a cultural preference for sons, coupled with political and economic influences, has severely skewed sex ratios at birth.”
Far from a second chance, abortion terminates the future of a whole new human being. It is the women who choose to carry their children to term and experience the joys of parenthood who feel a real second chance.
This is a flat-out misrepresentation of the facts, as Anna Paprocki has demonstrated for The Federalist. Abortion procedures have several significant risks that threaten the short- and long-term health of the mother, including infection, blood clots, heavy bleeding, injury to the uterus, and potentially a difficulty in having future children.
What hope is there in death? It is the end of hope, the crushing of opportunity, the deprivation of life for the unborn. And the emotional trauma inflicted on the mother leaves many, in fact, feeling hopeless and guilty.
The two parents who starved their six-year-old to death as “punishment” did not make a “parenting decision.” Neither do the parents who decide to abdicate parenthood by killing the unborn.
Again, there is no sickness that is being cured. Only life that is ending.
This is a malicious lie. Abortion is never necessary. There are would-be parents everywhere in the world who would gladly adopt a child. There are pro-life clinics created for the explicit purpose of helping young mothers who feel like abortion is their only option. It never is.
Growing up, I was taught to love my siblings and my family. Not to kill them if they inconvenienced me.
This is revealing. At its heart, the pro-abortion argument is inherently selfish. It must be to so casually disregard the dignity of other human beings. So of course the focus is on “me.”
And there it is. This is why the pro-abortion Left will never stop agitating for fewer and fewer restrictions on abortion. Abortion is a “sacred” rite in the culture of death. It is pursued with a religious fervor.
As each of these 16 billboards demonstrates, the argument for abortion is depraved. It is utterly depraved, yet persuasive if there is no one who will speak forcefully for life.
