In his meeting with President Trump Wednesday afternoon, Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas uttered one of the most easily provable lies in the age of the internet.
“Mr. President, I affirm to you that we are raising our youth, our children, our grandchildren on a culture of peace,” Abbas told Trump. “And we are endeavoring to bring about security, freedom and peace for our children to live like the other children in the world, along with the Israeli children in peace, freedom and security.”
The Abbas statement is simply false. The truth is that Palestinian youths are indoctrinated by an endless campaign of brainwashing and propaganda to hate Israel and seek its total destruction from a very early age.
There is such a consistent stream of hate that infiltrates the minds of young Palestinians that several organizations (such as Palestinian Media Watch, the Middle East Media Research Institute, and others) publish almost daily updates documenting the latest horrors of Palestinian child indoctrination.
From an early age, Palestinian students in Gaza and Ramallah are taught an alternative reality about their Jewish neighbors and the State of Israel. Some are encouraged to commit violent jihad to pursue statehood and to fight for a future Palestinian state that encompasses the entirety of the land of Israel — from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

One such Palestinian Media Watch report researched schoolbooks for Palestinians high school students. It found that most textbooks show the map of a state of “Palestine,” without recognizing that the state of Israel exists. Their schoolbooks incite students to fight for the liberation of Palestine as an Islamic duty. The more extreme elements include Holocaust denial and explicit calls to die for the sake of “Allah.”
Moreover, dozens of schools in the Palestinian Authority are named after suicide terrorists.
In English, Mahmoud Abbas attempts to convince the west that the Palestinians want to promote peace and understanding. In Arabic, Palestinian state-run television stations teach bigotry, violence, and Jew-hatred to boys and girls.
One such example is this 2014 children’s program sponsored by Al Aqsa TV, in which the host encourages kids to “shoot the Jews … all of them.”
In a January segment on the official Palestinian Authority television station, a young girl describes how “treachery” is “inherent” in the Jews.
Other segments use a Mickey Mouse knockoff to teach kids about terrorism and Islamic world domination.
Hamas, the Palestinian terror group that runs the Gaza Strip, hosts an annual summer camp for an estimated 15,000 to 25,000 children. The camps focus on weapons training, military maneuvers, and even kidnapping procedures.
Some of the jihadi camps are for teenagers.
Others are geared towards preadolescent youths.
Ultimately, society can only do so much to turn children into extremists if their parents are actively combatting those poisonous ideologies. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
In Palestinian culture, parents are praised for rejoicing in their children's deaths for the sake of advancing the Palestinian cause. Instead of showing despair, some Palestinian parents boast about their kid’s supposed sacrifice
It can come as no surprise that the Israelis were baffled by Abbas’ comments on the upbringing of Palestinian children. Following the Abbas-Trump meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented:
“I heard President Abbas yesterday say that they teach, Palestinians teach their children peace. That’s unfortunately not true. They name their schools after mass murderers of Israelis and they pay terrorists.”
Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir is quoted as saying, “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.” Unfortunately, Palestinian progress is stuck in first gear, and their culture remains in a mode that encourages children to pursue martyrdom and jihad over peace and progress.
