The “Unite the Right” rally, a gathering of white supremacist and neo-Nazi groups in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend erupted into violence when those hate groups met radical leftist Antifa mobs Saturday. A terror attack by an alleged white supremacist killed one young woman and left 19 injured. Two police officers died in a helicopter crash as they were monitoring the activity in Charlottesville, and 35 were hospitalized in all.
It was a bloody, dark day.
President Donald Trump condemned the hatred “on many sides” once over the weekend, and on Monday issued a statement explicitly condemning the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and “other hate groups” following sharp criticism for neglecting to do so in his first statement.
Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans. We are a nation founded on the truth that all of us are created equal. We are equal in the eyes of our Creator. We are equal under the law. And we are equal under our Constitution. Those who spread violence in the name of bigotry strike at the very core of America.
In response the weekend’s events, the Left has begun a despicable smear campaign against conservatives, labeling us all as Nazi sympathizers complicit with the rhetoric and violence of the Alt-“Right.”
Conservatives are vociferously opposed to the neo-Nazi Alt-“Right” — united in our condemnation of hatred and evil, and united in defense of the moral order upon which the civil society is built.
Here are just a few of the prominent movement conservatives in the media and in government who rightly denounced Saturday’s violence and all such evil hate.

Eff all identity politics-addled morons in both hate mobs.
All of them. https://t.co/XTJsDNuwqc
Conservatives STAND UP and clearly denounce the Alt-right. They are evil, neo nazis, bigots and have NO seat at any table. #charlottsville— Glenn Beck (@glennbeck) August 13, 2017
The so-called alt-right is an evil movement having nothing to do with - and actively opposing - Constitutional conservatism. (1)— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) August 13, 2017
Conservatives should continue to make clear that the alt-right is a perverse and dangerous movement that does not represent conservatism. https://t.co/YgCja2oVpP— Kassy Dillon (@KassyDillon) August 13, 2017
The alt-Right is scum. Neo Nazis are scum. Antifa is scum. White supremacists are scum.— Erielle Davidson (@politicalelle) August 13, 2017
White supremacists are not "conservatives" just like Antifa are not "liberals" They are authoritarians that hate America #Charlottesviille— Antonia Okafor (@antonia_okafor) August 13, 2017
Conservatives should denounce the alt-right even more than liberals do. It's everything we are trying to show people we aren't.— Allie Stuckey (@conservmillen) August 12, 2017
Conservatives: We need to do immensely better to combat the tribalistic appeal of the alt-right. We have to treat them like the Left.— Elliott Hamilton (@ElliottRHams) August 13, 2017
alt-right is not part of mainstream right, either establishment or tea party. They are not conservatives, by their own definition.— Inez Stepman (@InezFeltscher) August 13, 2017
The alt-right hate conservatives. Big time.— Brad Thor (@BradThor) August 13, 2017
Remember: the Alt-Right wants to destroy mainstream conservatism & religious Christianity, not ally with us. They're the enemy.— Dan McLaughlin (@baseballcrank) August 12, 2017
Your type are of the Left, whether you admit it or not. White nationalist racists ARE NOT conservatives. Period. https://t.co/B2vituzlhE— Jeremy Frankel (@FrankelJeremy) August 13, 2017
If you base your political platform on identity politics (antifa, BLM, alt right) & not the spirit of freedom, I'm not on your side.— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 13, 2017
After observing #Charlottesville all weekend, I come back to this conclusion:— Aaron McIntire (@DeaceProducer) August 14, 2017
Evil and hate knows no political party.
I urge the Department of Justice to immediately investigate and prosecute this grotesque act of domestic terrorism. pic.twitter.com/AwJLsfUEHl— Senator Ted Cruz (@SenTedCruz) August 13, 2017
Racism, anti-Semitism have no place in our society. Those responsible for the violence must be prosecuted 2 fullest extent 4 their actions— Rep. Jim Jordan (@Jim_Jordan) August 13, 2017

These people are utterly revolting--and have no understanding of America. This creedal nation explicitly rejects "blood & soil" nationalism. https://t.co/TPzYnLh3OB— Ben Sasse (@BenSasse) August 12, 2017
The violence and hatred behind the events in Charlottesville is unacceptable and must be stopped.(1/3)— Judge Roy Moore (@MooreSenate) August 13, 2017
These — and countless more — are the conservatives who unequivocally denounced the Alt-“Right.”
Will it satisfy the Left?
The media have a vested interest in making the so-called "alt-right" appear to represent conservatives.— Josh Hammer (@josh_hammer) August 13, 2017
This must be vehemently rejected.
No, it won’t. But trying to show blind and hate-filled liberals that conservatives aren’t Nazis isn’t the point. The point is denouncing racism, anarchism, Antifa, and all other forms of hate, because it is the right thing to do.
So, if anything, the “Unite the Right” rally achieved its purpose in a way – the conservative movement is united in condemnation of its evil.
How do we stop the mainstream media from warping the national narrative? We push back together. With the truth.
