Year after year, the United States funds a massive percentage of United Nations programs and gets nothing in return. Past administrations, Republican and Democrat alike, never leveraged the expensive annual commitment that the U.S. makes towards making sure the U.N. and its subsidiaries don’t have to worry about a financial crisis. As with NATO, this had led to allies and adversaries alike essentially abandoning their own commitments to the U.N., knowing that U.S. funding was always a sure thing.
Prior U.S. administrations never seemed to take issue with the fact that United Nations member states forwarded an agenda that harms American interests. The despotic member states of the U.N. — which includes the world’s most tyrannical regimes and Islamic theocracies — continue to attack the United States and its allies through security council resolutions and other means of aggression.
Ambassador Haley has decided that enough is enough. On Tuesday, she threw down the gauntlet to U.N. member states considering once again to condemn where the U.S. decides to locate its embassy in Israel.
At the UN we're always asked to do more & give more. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American ppl, abt where to locate OUR embassy, we don't expect those we've helped to target us. On Thurs there'll be a vote criticizing our choice. The US will be taking names. pic.twitter.com/ZsusB8Hqt4

President Trump followed suit Wednesday afternoon, warning that he would be open to reevaluating U.S. contributions to the U.N., should member states vote to delegitimize his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
Since day one of her tenure as President Trump’s U.N. ambassador, Nikki Haley has sought to reverse those unchallenged norms that have damage U.S. interests for decades. Since announcing that “there’s a new sheriff in town,” Haley has continued to pursue an America-first position at the U.N. From fighting for U.S. allies like Israel, to standing up for western, American values, Haley has become a symbol for freedom in a building where such figures are an endangered species.
It appears that weak-willed European nations and denialist Islamic theocracies at the U.N. have not learned their lesson. This week, they have once again decided to express their ungratefulness for U.S. welfare for their pet projects. On Monday, U.N. members attempted to pass a resolution (which was vetoed by the U.S.) that castigated the Trump administration’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Far removed from its idealistic founding as an organization whose purpose is advancing peace, the U.N. has become an enabler of iron-fisted regimes. All too often, these dictatorships gang up on Israel in an attempt to whitewash their domestic issues and label the Jewish state as the true source of evil in the world. Over half of U.N. Human Rights Council resolutions over the past ten years have been targeted at Israel. Even more staggering, more than 85 percent of U.N. General Assembly resolutions go after Israel.
It’s become quite transparent that totalitarian nations with common interests have used the U.N. as a machine to advance their agenda. One such prominent group, the 57-state Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is notorious for pushing U.N. policy that adheres to Islamic supremacist ideals. The OIC blocks discussion on issues such as Islamic terror and the human rights abuses that occur inside Muslim-majority countries.
Many of the international programs promoted by U.N. member states would not exist if not for U.S. funding. The United States contributes more to the United Nations than 185 other member states combined. The American taxpayer also provides the vast majority of the international peacekeeping budget, along with the majority of funds for humanitarian and refugee programs. Over 35 member nations pay less than $30,000 a year, while U.S. contributions soar into the billions each year.
President Trump and Ambassador Haley have made it clear that the U.S. will no longer act as the world’s piñata at the United Nations. Given the U.N.’s gross moral corruption, she recognizes that continuing to offer them a blank check damages U.S. interests.
