The off-year gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia wrap up tonight in what many in the media will likely interpret as a referendum on President Trump.
This is especially true in Virginia, where Republican Ed Gillespie ran an aggressive campaign against illegal immigration and sanctuary cities — a campaign Democratic candidate Ralph Northam has characterized as racist.
The other important statewide races in Virginia are for lieutenant governor and for state attorney general. Results below:
In New Jersey, Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno attempts to succeed Chris Christie as governor, while Phil Murphy seeks to win the governor’s mansion back for the Democrats.
