President Donald Trump is considering moving forward on an executive order designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, according to reports.
The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928 as a revolutionary terrorist organization that sought to overthrow the government of Egypt. While the group has shifted tactics over the years, its end goal of installing a global Islamic caliphate has not changed.
There are several reasons why President Trump must pull the trigger on designating and banning the Brotherhood, a move that would undoubtedly boost Americans’ security both at home and abroad.
From the beginning, top Muslim Brotherhood leaders have supported terrorist operations.
“It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet,” said MB founder Hassan al-Banna.
Al-Banna, an admirer of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, told his followers to strive to die for the sake of becoming a martyr. He said in 1940: “Degradation and dishonor are the results of the love of this world. Therefore, prepare for jihad and be the lovers of death … Death is an art, and the most exquisite of arts when practiced by the skillful artist.”
The Muslim Brotherhood’s call for jihadi terror, hatred of the Jews, and infatuation with Hitler has continued into present day.
Yusuf al-Qaradawi is one of the most influential clerics in the Sunni world and is viewed as the spiritual and “intellectual” leader of the global MB. The Egyptian cleric said in 2009 that Hitler “managed to” put the Jews “in their place.” Additionally, Qaradawi has endorsed the use of suicide bombings as a legitimate tactic and has entertained the idea that homosexuals should be put to death.
The MB has never amended its goal of worldwide Islamic conquest. The group’s motto continues to go as follows: “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”
The Muslim Brotherhood has long acted as something of a gateway drug to violent jihad.
The Brotherhood’s past membership includes a who’s who of infamous international terrorists. Both the deceased al-Qaeda chief, Osama bin Laden, and current AQ leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, were members. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the current leader of the Islamic State terror group, was also a member of the Brotherhood.
Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, the predecessor to the Islamic State’s branch in the Sinai Peninsula, was tied in with Muslim Brotherhood activity.
Hamas, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization, specifically refers to itself as “one of the wings of the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine.”
There are several U.S.-based Islamist organizations with deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, all of which promote a virulently anti-American agenda.
A Muslim Brotherhood document detailing its ties in America was brought to light by federal prosecutors during the Holy Land Foundation trial, the largest terror-financing case in U.S. history.
On page 18 of the Brotherhood’s strategic plan for America, it notes 29 groups that are included in “a list of our organizations and the organizations of our friends.” Included in the 1991 list are prominent Islamist outfits such as the Islamic Society of North America, the Muslim Student Association, and the Islamic Circle of North America. The document does not list the Hamas-tied Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), because the organization had not yet been founded.
All of the aforementioned groups push an Islamic supremacist agenda, often partnering with radical clerics and supporters of terrorism.
There is nothing “anti-Muslim” about labeling the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group — proven by the several Muslim-majority countries that have already outlawed the jihadi group.
Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt have officially listed the MB as a terrorist organization. Russia also lists the MB as a terror group.
