Laughable end-of-year tributes starting …

“Citizen of the Year” … GQ has named subpar quarterback and progressive icon Colin Kaepernick as the magazine’s “Citizen of the Year.” Of the more than 300 million people in the United States, GQ decided on a divisive person for the honor. As J.P. Freire said on Twitter, the people helping after natural disasters weren’t chosen, but Kaepernick was. For instance, the good people at Team Rubicon, an organization of veterans who come together to help during natural disasters, were not given the honor. If you want to read more about Team Rubicon, I highlighted their work last week.

Glamour and Linda Sarsour … Glamour magazine named anti-Semite Linda Sarsour as one of the magazine’s “Women of the Year.” Like Kaepernick, Sarsour is a progressive darling because she dares to stand up to “patriarchy” and Donald Trump. Independent Women’s Forum leader Carrie Lukas goes through why Sarsour and other women honored by Glamour are undeserving.

They should be made to perform abortions … Italian “journalist” Ilaria Maria Sala laments in a New York Times op-ed that while abortion is legal in Italy, many of the country’s gynecologists will not perform abortions. Of particular note is that Italian law has a conscience clause that allows doctors to not perform a procedure that they are morally against. It is presented as if that is a bad thing. Because remember, to a progressive, you have free will and choice unless that free will and choice go against the tenets of progressivism. In other words, you will be forced to bake a cake, you will be forced to take photographs, and you will be forced to perform an abortion even if you believe it is murder.

How many people? …

25 or 26? It makes a big difference … CNN tweeted yesterday: “A Texas church has held its first service since a gunman opened fire, killing 25 people and an unborn child one week ago.” That’s 26 people, CNN, not 25. But kudos for calling the dead baby a child. Small steps …

Hannity boycotts … After an in-depth interview with Roy Moore on Sean Hannity’s radio program Friday, left-wing special interest group Media Matters for America called for an advertiser boycott of Hannity’s Fox News program. There are many times when you can accuse liberals and conservatives of being home-team cheerleaders. This interview of Moore was not one of those times. Hannity’s interview was pointed and at times adversarial to Moore. Geraldo Rivera told Hannity on Fox News Friday evening that he thought Hannity’s questioning ended Moore’s candidacy. Hannity did play “devil’s advocate” and bring up a series of accusations now thought false against people from the past, on his television program. But his direct questioning of Moore was not biased.

The boycott calls were successful, as a number of organizations, including Keurig coffee, pulled advertising. Media Matters has a history of ginning up advertisers to go after conservative media. This is just one more case.

Update: After today's WTF MSM!? email was sent, and prior to publication of this on-site version, I became aware of more information regarding Keurig's advertising decision. In a memo to Keurig employees obtained by the Washington Post's Eric Wemple, Keurig CEO Bob Gamcort said the decision to publicly declare a "pause of advertising" was made "outside of company protocols." Gamcort stressed that the pause itself was normal for developing situations. The memorandum did not state if the "pause" in advertising continues.
