R.E.M. cycle … “It’s the end of the world as we know it.” That is the message of virtually everyone in the media today. At The Federalist, Bre Payton highlighted “15 Over-The-Top reactions To Trump’s Withdrawal From Paris Climate Deal.” Not all of them are from the press, but all of them are WTF-worthy. While you read the rest of today’s newsletter, crank up this tune.
Rand schools Tapper … A very concerned Jake Tapper had Rand Paul on CNN yesterday to talk about the Paris accord. During his hit, Paul hit back after Tapper told him, “All of it [climate change predictions] has happened.” Paul shot back, admonishing Tapper to “make sure that your viewers know that most of [climate scientists’] models has been wrong.” Watch via RealClearPolitics.
It’s gettin’ hot out here … Amy Harder, the “climate change reporter,” yes, that’s a thing, tweeted yesterday that it was “too hot out here for my iPhone.” To prove her point, she tweeted out a picture of the temperature warning screen on her phone. This was meant to underscore the need for the Paris accord. A quick search of the weather showed that it was two degrees under the normal June high temperature for Washington, D.C.
WaPo’s faux conservative does the faux conservative thing … The Washington Post touts its balance by employing faux conservative Jennifer Rubin. With Trump pulling out of the Paris climate deal, her faux conservatism was laid bare for the world to see. While many “Never Trump” conservatives praised the president for acting conservatively, proving they can walk and chew gum at the same time, Rubin went after Trump even though she previously was “against” the accord. The question is, was she really against it, or was she pretending for a paycheck? The Federalist’s Sean Davis explains.
Credit where it is due … After her bizarre talk this week, where she blamed everyone but herself for her loss, even CNN had enough of Hillary Clinton. The Washington Free Beacon tweeted out a CNN chyron that blared, “Excuses Tour: Clinton blames more people for loss.” #savage
Meltdown montage … There were so many media meltdowns yesterday, over Trump and the Paris accord, that there is not enough space to put them all here. NewsBusters, as always, did a fantastic job of highlighting a bunch of the over-the-top reactions. Here are a few of their great pieces: “Nets Lose It: ‘The World Will Be a Mess’ With U.S. Leaving Accord,” “Wacky: WashPost’s Wemple calls ‘Fox & Friends’ a ‘Planetary Threat,’” and, well, there are just so many good ones, so here’s a link to their topic page on “global warming.”
