CNN President Jeff Zucker has admitted that the network had been “too liberal” in the past, which contributed to its poor performance against competitor Fox News.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Zucker said critics accusing the network of mainstream media liberal bias were accurate, and that this year CNN has been striving to make changes to be more fair and balanced.

“I think it was a legitimate criticism of CNN that it was a little too liberal...We have added many more middle-of-the-road conservative voices to an already strong stable of liberal voices.”

Since adding more conservative voices to their contributors, voices like Conservative Review’s Amanda Carpenter, Steve Deace, and Jeff Lord, the network has seen a boost in ratings.

In fact, for the first time in 14 years CNN has beat Fox News in cable news primetime among adults 25-54.
