'You're lying!' Dan Bongino and Don Lemon clash on CNN

Dan Bongino, Republican candidate for Florida’s 19th Congressional district and former Secret Service agent, got into a heated exchange with CNN host Don Lemon over recent comments made by Donald Trump, with Lemon eventually yelling “you’re lying!” at Bongino.  

Trump’s now-infamous “Second Amendment people” comment has sparked vigorous debate over the meaning of the statement, with Lemon and many in the media taking those words to imply violence against Trump’s presidential opponent, Hillary Clinton.

“It’s clear he’s trying to motivate people to go out and vote based on the potential for an open Supreme Court seat,” Bongino said. “How that’s clear to you that was some kind of call to an open revolution and to start firing your weapons at public officials is utter absurdity!”

Lemon, refusing to back down, tried getting Bongino to at least concede Trump should’ve been more clear with his words, and eventually lost his cool:  

“What you’re saying right now makes no sense! I’m sitting at home, I’m watching Donald Trump. I have two ears and I have two eyes and I can see the reactions… We’re not stupid!… You should be ashamed of yourself!”

Bongino countered, “You don’t know crap about this, Don! You’re a TV guy! I was a Secret Service agent! Now cut off my mic! Do what you wanna do!”

Toward the end of the segment, Bongino—who is also a NYPD veteran—said anything was “within the realm of reason” for Donald Trump to say in order to motivate gun-rights advocates to vote against “gun-grabber” Hillary Clinton.

Lemon accused Bongino of merely repeating a talking point about Clinton, causing Bongino to fire back and suggest Lemon was driving a false narrative of Trump’s comments. “You’re Captain Talking Point!” Bongino retorted.
