Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J. (F, 14%) will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday to testify against Donald Trump’s nomination for attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. (C, 78%). The “unprecedented move” of a sitting senator testifying against a fellow sitting senator nominated for a Cabinet position is just the latest case in the ongoing witch hunt to smear Sessions’ name.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “All In” Monday, Booker explained why he decided to break the historical mold in a last-ditch effort to bring Sessions down:

"We've seen Jeff Sessions — that's Senator Jeff Sessions — consistently voting against or speaking out against key ideals of the Voting Rights Act, taking measures to try to block criminal justice reform,” he said. "He has a posture and a positioning that I think represent a real danger to our country.”

How incredibly concrete and specific!

As Sen. Ted Cruz noted in his Politico op-ed Monday, this type of action is to be expected from desperate Democrats who see the corrupt fiber of their lawless oligarchy being torn away piece by piece.

Of course, it helps that Booker is black, given the fact that the Left’s unfounded cries of “racism” have been blaring through the channels of mainstream liberal news outlets since Sessions was first appointed by the president-elect back in November. Booker will be joined this week by several other black leaders scheduled to testify against Sessions, including Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga. (F, 22%) and Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-La. (F, 17%), who also serves as chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Some have suggested that Booker’s decision to challenge Sessions’ character and overall fitness for the role of Attorney General is part of an early effort to set himself up for 2020.

Potential presidential ambitions aside, Sen. Booker, who was under consideration for the role of running mate to Hillary Clinton, has confirmed that he is willing to stand in the way of an honorable (and definitely not racist) man in order to ensure that his party’s agenda prevails. This isn’t about race or justice, it’s about power — power that Washington Democrats can’t stand to watch slip through their fingertips.
