A Democratic congressman has declared his intention to protest President Trump’s upcoming first State of the Union address by skipping the speech.
Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., is the first Democrat to announce he will not attend the president’s annual address to Congress. Blumenauer said he would not listen to “yet another destructive and divisive speech by Trump.”

Nearly 70 House Democrats, like Blumenauer, were absent from President Trump’s inauguration last year. Expect more Democrats to announce they’ll be no-shows when President Trump delivers his first State of the Union address on January 30.
