Not to be outdone in his criticism of airstrike that took out Iranian general and terrorist mastermind Qassem Soleimani, Bernie Sanders has now compared President Donald Trump’s action to Russian President Vladimir Putin “assassinating dissidents.”
Yes, a candidate for president actually compared a military strike against the head of a foreign terrorist organization responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American troops to the murder of dissidents by the head of their own government.
Here’s what he said to CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday night:
“This guy is, was — as bad as he was — an official of the Iranian government,” Sanders told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Monday night. “And, you unleash — then, if China does that, you know, if Russia does that, you know, Russia has been implicated under Putin with assassinating dissidents. So, once you’re in the business of assassination, you unleash some very, very terrible forces.”
But what happens when politicians unleash very, very terrible comparisons?
