Bob Corker wages last minute blitz to lock in Iran nuclear deal permanently

President Trump has until Thursday to decide whether to rid the nation of former President Barack Obama’s Iran nuclear deal, and Sen. Bob Corker is waging a last-minute campaign to lock in the nuclear deal permanently.

Sen. Corker has teamed up with Democrats to push for a bill that skeptics say contains a “range of flaws that mainly serve to lock in the Iranian nuclear deal and prevent Trump from abandoning it,” the Free Beacon reports.

Additionally, the Associated Press reports that the Iran deal legislation would “let a simple House and Senate majority stop any effort to snap back sanctions,” adding that anti-Iran Deal “Republicans fear it could be used against them under a future Democratic president.”

Corker has waged a fierce fearmongering campaign in the media, warning that there would be severe repercussions for leaving the deal. He claimed on Tuesday that exiting the Iran deal would empower North Korea.

“I hope at some point we’re going to enter into a very binding agreement with North Korea, and if it’s believed that we withdrew from a military agreement when there aren’t material violations — there’s some technical violations, but not material violations — then it makes it more difficult for people to believe we’re going to abide by another agreement,” Corker told reporters.

Noticeably, Corker’s taking points have been regurgitated by officials at NIAC, the D.C. outfit that has been accused of being the Iranian regime’s lobby in Washington.

Senator Corker played a crucial role in being able to secure the Iran deal for Obama. He authored the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015, which gave the White House the authority to undermine the Senate’s treaty power in the Constitution.

Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the Constitution (the Treaty Clause) requires the consent of two-thirds of the Senate to approve the president’s agreements with foreign countries. Corker’s legislation torched the Treaty Clause. He rallied support among his colleagues for this new standard pertaining to the Iran deal, which required that 60 senators simply vote in the affirmative to move ahead with a resolution of disapproval. Because 42 Democrats voted “no,” the final bill did not even get a final vote in the Senate, allowing President Obama to maneuver the U.S. into the Iran Deal against the wishes of the American people and Congress.

The Corker bill ultimately gave President Obama the authority to hand over an estimated $100+ billion dollars to Iran. The regime used the cash to finance its terror campaigns throughout the Middle East.

At some point on Thursday, we will know if the president decides to leave Barack Obama’s Iran deal legacy behind, keep it for at least another 90 days, or maybe even lock it in permanently.
