So, in the inspector general’s report on the FBI’s handling of the Clinton investigation released Thursday, there was a bombshell revelation that high-ranking FBI agent Peter Strzok sent a message declaring “we’ll stop” Trump from becoming president.
That is a big deal. Strzok’s message to his lover and FBI colleague Lisa Page shows that some agents leading investigations into the Clinton email server and Russian collusion in the 2016 election had explicit anti-Trump motivations. It’s also not a message that has been previously released publicly.
But of course, here’s how a CNN legal analyst played the IG report:
Unless there's something more surprising in the full report, it's hard to see how Trump and his allies will use this to attack the Mueller investigation or call for a second special counsel to investigate how the Clinton investigation was handled.
