Conservative congressmen: McCabe lied under oath, and we need a second special counsel

Two congressmen who spoke on Fox News Thursday night allege that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the Left's latest #resistance martyr, is both a liar and a leaker.

Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Mark Meadows, R-N.C., spoke with Laura Ingraham on "The Ingraham Angle," revealing new information from a Department of Justice inspector general's report that explains why the the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility recommended that McCabe be fired. The report is not public yet, though Jordan and Meadows have each seen copies.

Asked for a headline from the IG report, Jordan said McCabe lied no less than four times about leaking information to the Wall Street Journal about the FBI. Two of these times, he allegedly lied under oath to the inspector general.

Meadows said the fact that the fact that the "central player" of the FBI's Clinton email probe leaked to the press, lied about it, and was fired constituted the "extraordinary circumstances" Attorney General Jeff Sessions said would be necessary before appointing a second special counsel to investigate the FBI's conduct. The attorney general announced Thursday that he did not see a need to appoint a second special counsel and that instead, a federal prosecutor would be investigating the FBI.

"We need to have this special counsel. I disagree with the attorney general," Meadows told Inraham. "For the attorney general to suggest there's not enough there there is just extremely disappointing."

Jordan was sharper in his criticism of Sessions' decision.

"When the attorney general writes Congress and says, 'Only under extraordinary circumstances do we appoint a second special counsel,' well, how about these facts, Laura? James Comey's been fired. Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has been fired. Jim Baker, former chief counsel at the FBI, has been demoted and reassigned. Peter Strzok, former deputy head of counter-intelligence, has been demoted and reassigned. And Lisa Page, former FBI counsel, has been demoted and reassigned," Jordan said.

"If those aren't extraordinary circumstances warranting a second special counsel, I don't know what the heck is," Jordan added. "I don't know why the attorney general keeps postponing this. Everyone in town knows we need a second special counsel to get to the bottom of this."

The Left doesn't care that there was apparent gross misconduct at the FBI or that the inspector general's office says McCabe lied under oath. No, President Trump is the bad guy who fired a 21-year FBI veteran two days before he could collect his pension. The far-left website Mother Jones is even writing puff pieces about a GoFundMe account set up to pay McCabe's legal fees.

This is really amazing. On the one hand, they claim President Trump is unfit for office because he lies and because he criticizes the FBI. Absurdly, they claim the president obstructed justice by firing McCabe, and they demand his impeachment.

On the other hand, they are defending a man the FBI's own Office of Professional Responsibility recommended be fired, a man who the DOJ inspector general says lied under oath and leaked to undermine the Clinton investigation.

Who's really obstructed justice? Trump? Or this leaker and liar McCabe?
