FLASHBACK: Mark Levin called out Obama admin’s Bowe Bergdahl lies

The long saga of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is coming to an end. The Associated Press reports Bergdahl will plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior later this month, rather than face trial for leaving his Afghanistan post in 2009.

Two anonymous sources told the AP that sentencing will begin on Oct. 23. Bergdahl, 31, will finally face justice, but who will hold the Obama administration to account for lying about the facts surrounding his release and for undermining the military veterans who rightly claimed Bergdahl was a deserter all along?

After deserting his post, Bergdahl was captured and held captive by the Taliban for nearly five years. In 2014, the Obama administration — against the Pentagon’s wishes — negotiated his freedom in exchange for five Taliban generals detained by the U.S. government.

Conservatives slammed the administration for negotiating with terrorists and releasing five dangerous terrorist leaders (the “Taliban Five”) from Guantanamo Bay – at least one of whom has attempted to return to the battlefield to fight America – in exchange for a soldier whose comrades came forward with claims he had deserted prior to his capture.

Bergdahl is a disgrace. And so are the Obama administration hacks who undermined our military and repeatedly covered for him. Recall that President Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice said that Bergdahl served with “honor and distinction.”

Rice’s characterization of Bergdahl was contradicted by the testimony of soldiers who had served with him and claimed he was a deserter whose “selfish act” unnecessarily endangered the lives of those who were sent out to look for him. When those reports surfaced, State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf (now a Fox News contributor) downplayed them as “rumor.”

Back in 2014, Mark Levin ripped the Obama administration’s obfuscation of the facts, tearing into Harf and her lies about Bowe Bergdahl.

We now have the answers to the questions raised years ago. The previous administration traded five dangerous terrorists for a selfish deserter, and then lied about his character and record to cover for its blunder. So ends this chapter of the disastrous foreign policy legacy of President Barack Obama.
