Former NFL player says ‘Marxist’ liberals are dividing America

A black NFL veteran is speaking out against the “Marxist” Left for seeking to divide Americans with racial politics in the pursuit of power.

Behind the scenes of the recent NFL protests are years of liberal indoctrination in the culture, former New York Jets player Burgess Owens told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto. “You have a lot of good-hearted young men who really believe they’re right because they’ve never been trained to do anything else,” Owens said.

He believes the young black men in the NFL who are protesting the anthem do so because they’ve been taught to hate white America by exploitive liberal Democrats using racial divisions to win elections.

Owens, 66, recounted how when he was growing up, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights activists were “not only fighting institutional racism, but also the stereotypes of the Democratic Party of being lazy, irresponsible, ‘all we could do was sing, dance, and entertain.’”

Owens believes white liberals are still using stereotypes to manipulate black America.

“You look at what’s happening the last 15 years. BET is what these guys are looking at every single day of their lives. It’s owned by a white corporation, VIACOM, and for the last 15 years they have been flooded with anti-white, anti-American, anti-flag … everything they need to do to make sure they get out and be energized when it comes to election time,” Owens said.

“We have a country now that needs to look at these kind of corporations that propagandize our kids and push misery so they can get their political strategy going,” he continued. “I think those are true low-life cowards, the board members of Viacom — who are all white by the way — who allowed this to happen to my race for 15 years.”

Owens said he hopes a national conversation will begin about the real “enemy” dividing us.

“[The enemy] is not each other. It’s Marxist, liberal Democrats who use my race to get power,” Owens said.
