Details are still scarce about the shooting this morning at a GOP congressional baseball game practice. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., and several others – including two Capitol Police officers – were shot. But scarcity of details hasn’t stopped some social media pundits from immediately pouncing on the situation for precious political points.

Yes, folks, the old adage never to waste a good crisis still holds true, and the gun-control hot takes – some mixed with a dash of anti-GOP schadenfreude – started before the proverbial smoke had even cleared, even before the identity of the apprehended shooter was made public.

Others were less inclined to immediately politicize this tragedy.

Additionally, in a pair of tweets, David Frum, a senior editor at The Atlantic, grossly mischaracterized firearms laws in Virginia, where the shooting took place.

We will have more addressing this shortly.

Conservative Review will have more details about this story as they develop.
