House Freedom Caucus unanimously condemns Amash’s impeachment campaign

The House Freedom Caucus has voted unanimously to condemn Michigan libertarian Rep. Justin Amash for his bizarre and unspecific but total endorsement of impeachment of the duly elected president of the United States.

In a series of long Twitter threads over the past few days, Amash insisted that the Mueller report, which exonerated the president of engaging in criminal behavior, even though it was written by a team of leftist prosecutors, provided evidence of impeachable offenses.

In supporting impeachment, the Michigan rep did not point to a single specific instance that justifies the measure. He claimed that the report provides evidence that the president obstructed the investigation and therefore, impeachment is warranted.

The news came as a shock to many liberty advocates who have observed that the president was subject to police-state-like surveillance by members of President Obama’s FBI and CIA. Furthermore, the Mueller probe was commenced largely based on the false premise — crafted by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Obama Intelligence Community — that President Trump had colluded with Russia to win the election.

In his statements, Rep. Amash did not address the overarching threat to the republic that stemmed from the continuous, grotesque violations of Mr. Trump’s and his associates’ civil liberties. And conservatives on social media took notice.

On Tuesday, the House Freedom Caucus said enough was enough and voted to formally condemn Amash.

“We had a good discussion and every single member, I think now based on who was there and our board meeting was probably over 30 members, every single member disagrees and strongly with the position Justin took over the week, and we're focused on the now,” Rep. Jim Jordan told reporters Tuesday.

“I mean, look, we're focused on the fact that what the FBI did was wrong. We think that [Attorney General William] Barr’s handled himself exactly the way the American people want the attorney general to handle themselves, and he's going to get to bottom of all this,” Rep. Jordan added.

For now, the group has not determined whether or not Amash will be ousted from the group, according to The Hill.

Rep. Jordan later took to Twitter to clarify that the House Freedom Caucus stands for freedom above all else, and that the group found Amash recklessly indifferent on the issue of intelligence community abuses.
