Left is the ‘party of science’?! No, tribalism is libs’ religion

“Scientists announced (this week) the completion of a task that once seemed unimaginable; and that is, the deciphering of the entire DNA sequence of the human genetic code. This amazing accomplishment is likely to affect the 21st century as profoundly as the invention of the computer or the splitting of the atom affected the 20th century.

“I believe that the 21st century will be the century of life sciences, and nothing makes that point more clearly than this momentous discovery. It will revolutionize medicine as we know it today.” – Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., 2000

Science needs its own safe space.

And as recently as 17 years ago, it had something far closer to one. There Sen. Kennedy was — one of the lions of liberalism and the modern Democratic Party — celebrating the rich legacy of James Watson.

Dr. Watson, along with Francis Crick, identified the double-helix structure of DNA in 1953.

In a time when we are often awash in fake science, Kennedy was not being remotely hyperbolic or misleading; a gift had truly been given to humanity by Watson and company.

That was followed by almost a half-century of work by scientists, who painstakingly followed the truth wherever it led them, through observation, experimentation, and objective analysis.

You know … what we used to call “science.”

Mysteries of the universe were being unlocked and the sick were being healed. The possibilities might have even been said to have bordered on the divine.

So it seems like it might be worth hearing a little more from one of the men responsible for such a rich harvest in his few remaining years on Earth. Especially since his still-agile 89-year-old mind has something to say about the prospects of defeating cancer.

But you would be wrong, bigot.

For this is 2017 — otherwise known as the Chinese year of the Snow Flake. So while you are totally awesome and possess the wisdom of King Solomon if you believe the number of possible gender identities is limitless, there are things you dare not say — no matter how deeply based in fact, logic, and science they may be — lest you incur the wrath of the sages of the age.

Because nowadays, progressive dogma always trumps science.

Always.

Watson was just disinvited from speaking at the University of Illinois’ Carl Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. Because 10 years ago, lamenting the infamously stunted course of development in Africa, he dared suggest that genetic intelligence can vary geographically, based on cultural inheritance and stimuli.

I guess Nobel Prizes are only cool when Barack Obama and Al Gore get them for doing … nothing. (Then the stage is all yours.)

James Watson, instead, said this:

“There is no firm reason to anticipate that the intellectual capacities of peoples geographically separated in their evolution should prove to have evolved identically,” he said in 2007. “Our wanting to reserve equal powers of reason as some universal heritage of humanity will not be enough to make it so.”

So Watson even rested his argument on the concept of evolution — the creation myth of progressivism — and he is still being sent to the leper colony.

That’s because if you actually believe in evolution, you logically must believe in disparate outcomes; “survival of the fittest,” and all that. Equality is a total non-sequitur according the evolutionary paradigm; there are simply “winners” and “losers.”

But as with those who insist “that’s not the sort of God I want to believe in” when they shake their fist at the deity, progressives often hold the same exact stance with regard to science.

They’ll tell you science is their way, their truth, and their life only while winking at you or crossing their fingers behind their back. Because what they really want, pure and simple, is whatever they want, whenever they want it.

If science lines up with that, fine. If it doesn’t, it will be made to care like everything else. Professor Kate Clancy, who teaches biological anthropology at Urbana-Champaign, confirmed that very thing in a tweet when she said “moral character and ethics matter more than science.”

Hey, slow your roll, Ms. Preachy Pants — didn’t you get the memo? Objective standards of morality aren’t cool anymore. God is dead. So where are you getting your morality and ethics from then?

To that, U of I student Jacqueline Moffat responded as if on cue, telling Campus Reform: “The school should not be promoting someone like [Watson]. There are plenty of other smart people that we can hear from.”

Like themselves.

Look at that. The people complaining that Dr. James Watson said some people are smarter than others are verifying — in their very own words — that they believe some people are indeed smarter than others. But instead of proving it with science or logic or achievement, they believe the proper street credit lies in self-idolatry and the rankest sort of tribalism.

There’s your morality and ethics for you, courtesy of the University of Illinois and the progressive mob everywhere. Two legs good, four legs bad, and no matter what scientific brilliance you may have bestowed Western civilization in the past, you’re nothing but a Klansman if you’re not sufficiently tattooed with SJW memes and mantras.

That, my friends, is a place where whining brats and bullies run a culture into the ground. And that, my friends, is America in 2017.

Turns out the late Ted Kennedy was wrong about how the 21st century would turn out.  Science never stood a chance.
