After toppling incumbent Joe Crowley in the NY-14 primary, socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attempted to use her newfound publicity to secure more socialist victories, stumping for a handful of other Democratic candidates around the country.
Tuesday’s voters, however, did not favor the socialist darling’s choices.
Michigan’s Islamist Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Abdul El-Sayed, was defeated by Gretchen Whitmer, Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st District lost to incumbent William Lacy Clay, and Fayrouz Saad in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District landed in fourth place out of five candidates.
A few of Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsed candidates did win, though only one on the “Medicare for All” platform.
So much for a rising tide of democratic socialism …
