Mark Levin's nominee to replace John McCain: Dr. Zuhdi Jasser

On Tuesday, LevinTV host Mark Levin took note of the "media speculation" on whom Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, R, will appoint to the Senate seat held by the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Levin believes Dr. Zuhdi Jasser should be appointed to the Senate.

M. Zuhdi Jasser, M.D., is the founder and president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (AIFD) and the author of "A Battle for the Soul of Islam: An American Muslim Patriot’ s Fight to Save His Faith."

He is a first-generation American Muslim whose parents fled Syria in the 1960s for America. He is a devout Muslim and internationally recognized expert on Islamism. His organization, AIFD, believes "the root cause of Islamist terrorism is the ideology of political Islam (Islamism) and a belief in the supremacy of the Islamic state." Jasser is a vocal proponent of reform in Islam.

A Navy veteran, Jasser received the Meritorious Service Medal and attained the rank of lieutenant commander before his honorable discharge in 1999. An Arizona resident, he took over his father's medical practice after his military service.

In June, Levin interviewed Jasser on his Fox News program, "Life, Liberty & Levin." Watch part of the interview here.
