On Tuesday night, House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., walked through the timeline of FBI official Peter Strzok’s missing text messages with Lisa Page and his involvement with both the Clinton email investigation and the Trump-Russian collusion investigation.

Reviewing what’s happened, Meadows revealed an extremely significant detail: The May 4, 2016, text message in which Strzok wrote “Now the pressure really starts to finish” the Clinton investigation was the same day Ted Cruz dropped out of the Republican presidential primary. Strzok and Page agreed to accelerate efforts to end the Hillary Clinton investigation on the very day Donald Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee for president.

But wait, there’s more. As Meadows recalls, the language of former FBI Director James Comey’s statement exonerating Hillary Clinton from the email scandal was softened before the final draft. The wording was changed from “grossly negligent” to “extremely careless,” the former wording implying Clinton violated the Espionage Act, while the latter let her off the hook. Meadows notes the importance of the date of that change.

“We have email documentation that suggests the ‘gross negligence’ claim in Director Comey’s exoneration letter was changed to ‘extremely careless’ between May 4, 2016 and May 6, 2016… by none other than Peter Strzok,” Meadows said.

Folks, after Donald Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee, Strzok then edited Comey’s draft statement to clear Hillary Clinton of any wrongdoing nearly on the same day he said it was time to end the Clinton investigation.

“This stinks to high heaven,” Meadows said.

So, the very day that the GOP field was cleared for Donald Trump, Peter Strzok, a known anti-Trump partisan, seems to have worked to clear the general election field for Hillary Clinton by softening the language of Comey’s statement.

Keep in mind, as Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., revealed Wednesday, Strzok and Lisa Page were meeting in secret with other top officials in the FBI off-site.

There are questions that need immediate answers: Who else had a hand in editing Comey’s statement to exonerate Hillary Clinton? Which FBI officials were part of this so-called “secret society” with Strzok? Are any of these officials working with special counsel Robert Mueller on the Russian collusion probe? Did any of these individuals have a hand in securing a FISA warrant to surveil the Donald Trump campaign during the 2016 election?  And have any of these individuals leaked to the media to damage the president?
