Media still clinging to fake news of Trump-Russia 'collusion'

The fake news industrial complex is at it again, continuing to promulgate the giant DNC-legacy media-Clinton-Obama hoax containing the completely unproven allegation that President Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government to win the election. Not a single piece of evidence has surfaced to show any measure of collusion, but nonetheless, as President Trump wraps up his first year in office, the media are convinced that they are on the cusp of breaking the biggest scandal since the Obama administration covered up the 9/11/2012 Benghazi attacks.

On Monday evening, Julia Ioffe, a liberal writer at The Atlantic, published leaked Twitter correspondence between Donald Trump Jr. and Wikileaks that may have been delivered to the media by Democrats in Congress.

The piece was presented with the misleading title “The Secret Correspondence between Donald Trump Jr. and Wikileaks.” As it turns out, Trump Jr. sent the correspondence to congressional investigators a long time ago. So when The Atlantic published the story, there was actually nothing “secret” about the information, as it was in the hands of those scrutinizing allegations that Russia interfered in the election.

Moreover, Ioffe’s “scoop” material was hardly anything substantial. All it really showed was that Wikileaks made several attempts to contact Trump Jr. via direct message on Twitter, and he responded three times. The piece details that Wikileaks made several requests of Trump Jr. The organization wanted his father’s help in getting Julian Assange appointed as Australia’s ambassador to the U.S. Wikileaks also sought out then-presidential candidate Trump’s tax returns, among several other requests. There’s no evidence that Trump Jr. took any of these requests seriously. By all accounts, he simply ignored them.

Nonetheless, the legacy media declared that this was further evidence of Trump-Russia “collusion.”

Within minutes of publishing her “scoop,” Ioffe’s media allies lined up to book her for television appearances.

Although the story never presented a single piece of evidence to elevate what has become nothing more than a Trump-Russia conspiracy theory, the media happily ran with it because it advances their false narrative. There’s no evidence of collusion, but networks like CNN and MSNBC continue their wall-to-wall coverage anyway.

In his book “Righteous Indignation,” the late Andrew Breitbart observed, “The left does not win its battles in debate. It doesn’t have to. In the twenty-first century, media is everything. The left wins because it controls the narrative. The narrative is controlled by the media. The left is the media. Narrative is everything.” Indeed, the narrative was all that mattered here, facts be damned. The media wants its Trump-Russia narrative to continue by any means possible.

The latest story in The Atlantic was worse than a nothingburger. It was fake news to purposefully undermine the legitimacy of the duly elected president of the United States. And outlets like MSNBC and CNN are happy to perpetuate the fake news cycle as long as humanly possible.
