On Friday, a new jobs report was released showing strong economic growth under the Trump administration in May. The United States added 223,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate has fallen to 3.8 percent.
These are the strongest job gains since February, so leave it to House Minority Leader Nancy “crumbs” Pelosi, D-Calif., to pooh-pooh the jobs report.

“Republicans’ cruel, cynical health care sabotage campaign is already spiking families’ premiums by double digits and pushing millions off their coverage, according to the nonpartisan CBO. Big Pharma continues to hoard the benefits of the GOP tax scam, using their handouts to further enrich executives and shareholders instead of lowering prescription drug costs for seniors and sick kids. At the same time, the President’s reckless policies are exploding gas prices, wiping out the few meager gains that some families should have received from the GOP tax scam, as wages remain stagnant,” Pelosi said in a statement.
This is rich. Pelosi is trying to pin the soaring health insurance costs caused by Obamacare on the Republicans. The Democrats own that trash legislation, and whatever ill effects remain from it are caused by Congress’ failure to fully repeal it, largely due to Democratic obstruction.
As for rising gas prices, Democrats blame this on Trump’s decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal. Firstly, gas prices have been ticking up since before Trump made a decision on the Iran deal. Secondly, the Democrats keep obstructing the Trump administration’s offshore drilling initiatives, which would lower energy costs and make the U.S. less dependent on the Middle East for oil. Thirdly, cheaper gas is not worth allowing the terrorist-supporting Iranians to obtain nuclear weapons under the Iran deal.
And the tax cuts? Millions of Americans are enjoying raises and bonuses and seeing bigger paychecks each month. If wages are stagnant, it’s because our economy is over-regulated, businesses are hamstrung by Obamacare’s oppressive mandates, and decades of government intervention in the U.S. economy and profligate spending by progressives in both parties have created a burden of debt that causes stagnation.
Pelosi should know better than to criticize the gains being made by the Trump administration in spite of the Democrats’ best efforts to stop Trump’s policies. If she thinks dismissing the lowest unemployment rate in nearly 18 years will put Democrats back in power, she’s in for a rude awakening come November.
