With the June 12 summit with North Korea officially cancelled, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is impressively warping reality to make President Trump look bad.
Pelosi argues that Kim Jong Un is the “big winner” after President Trump wrote a letter to the North Korean tyrant informing him that it would be inappropriate for him to attend the meeting given North Korea’s “tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement.”
“I think it’s a good thing for Kim Jong Un,” Pelosi said at her weekly press conference. “They were on par with each other. He got global recognition and regard. He’s the big winner.”
“When he got this letter from the president saying ‘OK, never mind’ — he must be having a giggle fit right there in North Korea,” Pelosi added. She accused the president of failing to prepare to meet with Kim and therefore handing the regime a win.
But how exactly? What did North Korea win? The United States is not lifting sanctions. Secretary of State Pompeo said Thursday that “the pressure campaign continues,” so there will be no economic relief. President Trump successfully secured the release of three American hostages. The regime claims to have just destroyed its nuclear testing site. So for the time being, there won’t be any nuclear testing there.
All of this happened, and Kim Jong Un isn’t even getting a face-to-face meeting with a U.S. president, which has been the desire of the Kim regime for decades. What exactly does Kim Jong Un have to be happy about? Nothing. Reportedly, there was “a real sense of shock” among the regime’s officials after Trump made his announcement.
So Pelosi has no idea what she’s talking about. She’s attacking Trump because she’s a Democrat, and that’s what they do, but her attacks have no basis in reality.
Editor’s note: The word “Nonsense” in the title was changed to “Nansense” because we thought of it and couldn’t resist.
