Obama, Holder unite to screw America and put Dems back in power

The band is getting back together and the song remains the same: redrawing the congressional map to favor Democrats and justifying it in the name of “fairness.”

The remnants of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign organization, Organizing for Action, has officially joined in partnership with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee — a group chaired by former Attorney General Eric Holder — to mobilize Democrats at the state level in anticipation of coming redistricting fights, Politico reports.

And in assuming the role of OFA spokesman, it is clear Obama does not plan on standing around in a bit role for the group’s second act.

“OFA volunteers and supporters will provide the grassroots organizing capacity and mobilization that we’ll need to win state-level elections and move other initiatives forward ahead of the 2021 redistricting process, making sure that states are in the best position to draw fair maps,” Obama wrote to group members Monday.

While Organizing for Action will provide the volunteer manpower, it seems Holder’s NDRC will control the financing. According to Politico, Holder’s group dumped $750,000 into the Virginia governor’s race last month, as both Holder and Obama have campaigned for the Democratic candidate.

The groups are gearing up to be influential players in the 2018 midterm and beyond. The Chicago district of Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., provides liberals a good template for redrawing the map:

States redraw their legislative and congressional district maps every 10 years, based on new U.S. Census data. In most states, lawmakers in the state legislature draw the maps, giving the party in control the gerrymandering advantage.

Democrats and Republicans alike use this system to their benefit and have done so for more than 200 years. Republicans used the majorities they won in 2010 to redraw the maps in 2011 and help solidify the party's majority in the House of Representatives.

Now Obama and Eric Holder want Democrats to win back seats at the state level so they can strike back and create a Democratic majority in the House.
