Report: Dem Claire McCaskill hid private plane use from public

It looks like Senator Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., has something to hide. Leading up to her 2018 re-election campaign, McCaskill attempted to keep the public in the dark about her use of a private jet.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that a company hired by McCaskill to operate her own private jet made a request to the Federal Aviation Administration to have the tracking information on that plane be hidden from the public.

The company hired by McCaskill to operate the plane, a 2009 Pilatus PC-12/47E, wrote to the FAA earlier this year in April to ask that tracking information on the plane be blocked from the public, according to email records obtained by the Washington Free Beacon through a Freedom of Information Act request.

Prior to 2013, private aircraft owners or operators had to present a “certified security concern” to the FAA if they wanted to block their aircraft data from public display on websites such as FlightAware.com, where McCaskill's plane could be tracked as recently as this year. However, changes made during the Obama administration removed this requirement and “make the aircraft blocking process as simple as possible.”

During her 2012 re-election campaign, McCaskill came under fire for making taxpayers foot the bill for her private jet. Public pressure forced McCaskill to sell the plane, but her husband’s company bought her current jet shortly after she won re-election.

McCaskill’s office declined to give the Free Beacon a comment.

Why attempt to keep the details of her private jet travel secret? What, exactly, does Sen. McCaskill want to hide from voters in the “Show Me” state?

Given her previous indiscretions with private planes, voters are entitled to know the answers to these questions. And yet, there’s silence from the McCaskill campaign.
