Report: Up to 2k ‘hostile’ protestors at Boston Free Speech Rally

The arraignments for those arrested at the counter-protest to Boston's "Free Speech Rally" last weekend are underway. The facts that have emerged from the court proceedings paint a starkly different picture than earlier media reports.

Citing police officers' reports, according to the Boston Herald, the number of protesters allegedly acting in a "hostile" manner toward police numbered nearly 2,000. Earlier news reports tried to downplay the violence by Antifa and and other counter-protesters in Boston last Saturday. Kathleen McKiernan of the Herald reports:

As many as 2,000 “hostile” protesters surrounded police, some throwing bottles filled with urine and punching and spitting at cops as they tried to escort participants from Saturday’s “Free Speech Rally” out of Boston Common, according to police reports filed in court yesterday.

The crowd answered an order to disperse with “a barrage of insults directed toward the officers,” the police narrative states. As cops in riot gear began pushing back the crowd with their batons and shields, “they were met with violent resistance,” the reports state. One riot cop’s face shield was cracked, while protesters tried to rip off the officers’ protective gear and grabbed one officer’s radio.

The reports filed for the arraignment yesterday of 18 of the 33 people who were arrested Saturday indicate a large-scale outbreak of violence in what was otherwise widely hailed as a peaceful protest by 40,000 counterdemonstrators.

Earlier reports, citing Boston Police Commissioner Bill Evans, stated that the counter-rally was peaceful. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said that 99.9 percent of the estimated 40,000 counter-protesters were in Boston for the "right reasons." Walsh may need some remedial math training if the accounts of his rank-and-file police officers are correct. Per the 2,000 estimate, it seems around 5 percent — not a trivial amount — of the crowd was acting in either a violent or intimidating manner.

As CR's Chris Pandolfo outlined, violent Antifa thugs and their allies across the country have rejuvenated their efforts and campaign to make the word "cops" synonymous with "racists" — with chants such as "Cops and Klan go hand in hand," or "Oink oink, bang bang."

Contrary to what the mainstream media want you to believe, Antifa is a collection of violent anarcho-communist thugs. The truth will come out, as it always does. Just as it appears it has today.
