Report: White House asks to prep SOTU on House floor; no response from Pelosi yet

Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts has a very interesting scoop that suggests the White House intends to have President Trump deliver his State of the Union speech in the House of Representatives.

Or at least they're attempting to prepare to do so in the event the government reopens by January 29.

Roberts' reporting was confirmed by PBS White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor.

And Bloomberg White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs followed up on Roberts' reporting.

So we know 1) Trump is planning to be at the capitol on January 29, the day he's supposed to deliver his State of the Union address to Congress; and 2) the White House is asking to prepare for the speech in the House of Representatives.

This could mean the White House thinks the government will be reopened by the time the State of the Union address rolls around, but given how negotiations have gone so far, that seems unlikely.

So what will Pelosi do if the White House continues to insist that Trump will give his address on the House floor? What would she do on January 29 if he travels down the street to the Capitol to give his speech? Lock him out of the room?

If she does that, maybe he should set up a lectern in the lobby and deliver his speech right there. Think of the photo op!
