On Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders slammed the media for its “wild obsession” with speculating about the identity of the unnamed Trump official who penned a New York Times op-ed about how he is resisting President Trump’s policies.
CNN and The Weekly Standard each published speculative articles guessing at the anonymous authors and listing various top-tier Trump officials and why they may be motivated to resist Trump and write the anonymous article.
Sanders issued a statement to those speculating:

She’s absolutely right. Speculation about the identity of the author is not news, it’s not helpful, and it’s not worth reading about.
