The Left: Safe spaces for me, but not for thee

What just happened to Sen. Ted Cruz in a Washington, D.C., restaurant should be just the medicine Republicans need to help steel their resolve.

Note that I said “should be.”

But are there still ears to hear and eyes to see what is obvious beyond argument? The assault on Cruz’s dinner with his wife by self-confessed anti-prison, anti-border, anti-capitalism dweebs is a perfect microcosm of the hysterical hate leftists have for “the other.” And if you’re wondering who their “other” is, it’s you and me.

If conservatives are to embrace just one fundamental truth out of all this to prepare them for what is ahead, it is this: safe spaces for me, but not for thee. All of us must forfeit the dignity of private or personal time to satiate the progressive mob, simply because of what we believe.

Cake bakers and nuns have the scars to prove it. Steve Scalise has the scars to prove it. And a leftist U.S. senator from Hawaii just got done telling us as much on national television. Now the group behind the Cruz incident tweets this:

“You are not safe. We will find you. We will expose you. We will take from you the peace you have taken from so many others.”

The ends justify the means to the progressive hive mind, whose foolish hearts have been hardened by their brand of heretical religious fervor. They share with Christians an “every knee shall bend” commitment to their faith. According to the sages of progressivism, your knee will bend even if they have to cut your leg off and bend it themselves.

Ironic, isn’t? The very same people who demand public safe spaces from views and words they find offensive publicly violate the private space of others. Except it’s not irony at all. It’s Marxism at its core, in both belief and behavior. Those promising utopia always deliver tyranny. And those promising coexistence really mean “you will be made to care.”

The leftists’ warped and pagan reading of history and humanity’s purpose means never having to say you’re sorry, but rather make “the other” sorry for daring to have a meal. What they call “diversity” really is conformity by coercion. You will either do as they command, or the power of the state or a public shaming — whichever is most readily available — will be unleashed upon you faster than you can say “tolerance.”

This is not a political ideology we’re debating, but a cult that refuses to debate. This isn’t a political party, but the spirit of the age. It cannot be negotiated with or convinced to honor basic rules of fairness, let alone parliamentary procedure.

This is more than the Visigoths coming over the wall. That was at least an invasion by an alternative view of civilization. This is the crowd outside of Lot’s house, and they stand for de-civilization.

We don’t debase ourselves to their pagan standard, but we don’t surrender to it, either.

For everything there is a time and a season. There’s a time to turn the other cheek, and then there’s a time for Nehemiah 13:25. There’s a time to bless those who persecute you, and there’s a time to drop a truth bomb like Paul did in Acts 13:10.

And then there’s a time when the mob becomes so uncivilized that it physically threatens you or those you love and/or are charged with protecting. And that’s when it’s time for the Second Amendment.

I pray it doesn’t come to that, but if these brats persist in their barbarism, they may have the numbers, but we’ve got the guns. Do the math, punks.
