As wildfires rage in California, morning commuters in Los Angeles County got an up-close look at the blaze on their way to work Wednesday.

Pictures and videos circulated on social media show wildfires along the 405 freeway in the Sepulveda Pass near the Getty Center and the Skirball Cultural Center. Portions of the highway have been closed.

Homes in the area are being evacuated. The Los Angeles Fire Department has deployed at least 200 firefighters.

California Governor Jerry Brown, D, has declared a state of emergency.

“This fire is very dangerous and spreading rapidly, but we’ll continue to attack it with all we’ve got,” Brown said. “It’s critical residents stay ready and evacuate immediately if told to do so.”
