CR Liberty Score Update

This amendment sponsored by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) would have saved taxpayers $1.8 billion by bringing total spending in the bill in line with the conservative Republican Study Committee budget. The amendment aimed to eliminate the foreign “Food for Peace” program and reduce duplicative government programs. For example the Department of Agriculture has three different agencies that perform research and statistics. This amendment failed 83 – 338 on June 15, 2011.
