Vote Alert: Prohibit Earmarks

Earmarks are used as an internal currency in Congress to buy and sell votes and have contributed to the current big spending culture of Washington D.C. This amendment proposed prohibiting earmarks in 2012. The Senate rejected this amendment as it was offered to the STOCK Act on February 2, 2012 by a roll call vote of 40-59.
