Vote Alert: Suspend the Debt Limit

CR Liberty Score Update

This bill removed the nation’s debt limit until March 15, 2015. No spending cuts or budget reforms accompanied this bill. Representatives supporting this debt ceiling increase had no idea the amount of debt they were approving because the increase was affixed to a date rather than a number. In essence this increase was a blank check, despite the nation’s $17.3 trillion debt. The bill was approved by the House 221 – 201 on Feb. 11, 2014 and was signed by the president on Feb. 15, 2014.
