This vote was on the passage of a $1 trillion dollar “farm bill.” This is an increase of 56% over the previous “farm bill.” Noticeably missing from the legislation were reforms to the ballooning food stamp program, of which 1 in 7 Americans are participants. The bill also mandates central control of a variety of commodities like sugar and milk resulting in increased food prices. On February 4, 2014 the bill passed by a roll call vote of 68-32.
