Watch: House Freedom Caucus takes over House floor to make the case for border security

On Tuesday afternoon, several members of the House Freedom Caucus announced a special order — a series of speeches in the House — on immigration and border security, taking the floor of the House of Representatives and making the case to fund the wall and reopen the government.

The border migrant crisis is "a moral, legal, and human catastrophe of epic proportions," said Rep. Scott Perry, R-Penn. "The president's fighting to fix it, and the Freedom Caucus is fighting to fix it right alongside him."

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, spoke of the victims of illegal immigration, telling the story of Jared Vargas — a young man who was violently murdered by an illegal alien — and others who are the names and faces of the issue. "This is not a partisan issue; it's a humanitarian crisis. It's time for us to stop bickering, or hiding behind excuses, and secure the border now," Roy said. He was joined by Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., who criticized the mainstream media for being negligent in covering these stories.

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, blasted the Democratic Party, saying "today's Left has taken the most radical positions in American history."

And Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, highlighted how Democrats know walls work because they keep them around their homes.

"The idea that the United States of America should turn a blind eye to protecting its national borders violates one of the few responsibilities enumerated to the federal government in the Constitution," said Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz. "How can anyone argue that we are safer as a nation by not having any idea who is entering our country today?"
