WTF MSM!? An Antifa coverage turning point?

WTF MSM!? An Antifa coverage turning point?

What is happening on the coast of Texas right now is terrifying and jaw-dropping in its scope. Reports say the rain may not stop in some areas until Friday. If you are reading this newsletter from that area, please be safe. Often during events like these, it is hard to process what is happening or to know the best way to help. The best thing we can all do now is pray and offer help to people we know who might be affected.

The longest storm …

TV reporter saves trucker … Watch this video. While we often talk about the biases of journalists in this newsletter, it is also worthwhile to take a step back and highlight when they do good. Especially when they save lives. The video linked above shows KHOU reporter Brandy Smith flagging down a Harris County Sheriff driving a rescue boat. The sheriff then saved the life of a trucker who was rapidly being engulfed by floodwaters.

Just another reason to attack POTUS … Twitter was full of journalists and cable news personalities attacking Trump for the response to Harvey. Including CNN’s Ana Navarro, who tweeted that Trump hadn’t given an update via Twitter on Saturday morning, but could talk about a book by Sheriff Clarke. The thing is, before Navarro tweeted, Trump had tweeted out storm updates. CR’s Chris Pandolfo called it deranged, adding, “Your dishonesty makes legitimate criticism of POTUS impossible.”

Weather Channel meteorologist rescues flag … Paul Goodloe, a meteorologist with the Weather Channel, saw an American flag lying on the ground while he was in Texas reporting on Hurricane Harvey. He picked up the flag and properly folded it. NewsBusters has the story.

Antifa coverage is turning …

Washington Post about-face? … Shortly after the events of Charlottesville, the Washington Post ran an opinion piece from Yoav Fromer arguing the Left had given up political violence. It was part of a coordinated attack on Donald Trump for saying that there was violence from multiple political sides in Charlottesville. A few weeks later, the Post is finally reporting on the violence and admitting: “Black-clad antifa attack peaceful right wing demonstrators in Berkeley.”

Tapper’s bizarre quote tweet … Over the past few weeks, I’ve highlighted places where Jake Tapper has shared both sides of a story. He should be commended for it, because so few of his colleagues do. That’s why this quote tweet from Tapper of MoJo reporter Shane Bauer's post is mind-boggling. Bauer tweeted: “Thousands of anti-racists protestesters prevented the alt-right from rallying in Berkeley. Today, anti-racists won.” What really happened was that the violent Antifa won by preventing people from exercising their freedom of speech. Using violence and mob rule to shut down free expression is wrong. Tapper passing that along without disavowing it is reprehensible.

Stelter unmasked … I took a deeper look at the background of CNN’s media “critic”/cheerleader Brian Stelter. In my article at Conservative Review, I looked at Stelter’s meteoric rise and how he is more a “fanboy” than anything approaching an objective journalist.

Tell a friend …

I can’t fight back alone against the mainstream media. I need your help. There are two ways you can help. First, send your friends – and even your enemies – over to the WTF MSM!? email subscription page and get them sign up. Second, email me at reno@conservativereview.com with anything questionable you see the media do. Together, we can fight back.
