CBS fires Charlie Rose after sexual misconduct accusations

Two more journalists face sexual misconduct accusations …

Charlie Rose … Yesterday, the Washington Post reported that eight women have come forward and accused veteran broadcaster Charlie Rose of making “unwanted sexual advances” toward them. Shortly thereafter, CBS, PBS, and Bloomberg all suspended Rose pending the outcome of an investigation. Rose’s co-hosts on “CBS This Morning,” Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell, opened their show this morning by addressing the accusations and suspension. The two were powerful and forceful in their statements. O’Donnell said, “Let me be very clear: There is no excuse for this alleged behavior. It is systematic and pervasive.”

At 12:30 this afternoon, CBS News fired Rose. In a statement released on Twitter, CBS News president David Rhodes said, "There is absolutely nothing more important, in this or any organization, than ensuring a safe, professional workplace." NBC News reported that it is not immediately clear if PBS or Bloomberg had also fired Rose.

Glenn Thrush … Yesterday morning, Vox published accusations from three women against New York Times White House reporter Glenn Thrush. The author of the piece is also one of the women making an accusation, from her time as Thrush’s colleague at Politico. The Times has suspended Thrush pending the results of an investigation. Thrush has pledged to enter a substance abuse program.

Juanita Broaddrick slams CNN’s Ana Navarro … Yesterday, CNN contributor Ana Navarro tweeted that she believed the accusers of a whole list of people. She left off one name. If you guessed that name was Bill Clinton, you’d be right. One of those accusers, Juanita Broaddrick, shot back at Navarro for the glaring omission. CR’s Chris Pandolfo has all the details.

More Levin …

Stelter takes swipe … BIG NEWS! Fox news announced today that CRTV host Mark Levin will begin a weekly Sunday show on Fox News. This is in addition to LevinTV on CRTV. Not everybody is thrilled. CNN's media critic/cheerleader Brian Stelter, who regularly produces unhinged segments about Levin, went after Levin this morning on Twitter. #passthepopcorn

Speaking of Stelter … In his latest podcast, Stelter spoke with longtime conservative commentator S.E. Cupp about the reasons why conservatives distrust the media. Cupp now hosts her own show on CNN’s sister network, HLN. With zero self-awareness, Stelter went on the attack, blamed “right-wing outlets” and Donald Trump, and downplayed his own industry’s contributions. I took a detailed look at the podcast.

More Uranium One bombshells … Despite the lack of coverage in most mainstream media outlets, The Hill continues to break new ground on the Russia-Clinton Uranium One story. Yesterday, John Solomon reported “five new revelations in the Russian uranium case” and called out other organizations, like the Washington Post, for continuing to push false stories about the case.
