WTF MSM!? Comey, Comey, and more Comey

Infatuation …

Stelter goes gaga … Before the James Comey interview on ABC even aired, CNN media critic/cheerleader Brian Stelter was going gaga over Comey. That’s when CNN law enforcement analyst James Gagliano, a former FBI agent, stepped in and set Stelter straight. Gagliano called Comey a “feckless leader” and reminded Stelter how current and former FBI agents are not happy with Comey discussing an ongoing investigation. NewsBusters’ Nicholas Fondacaro has the details. Fondacaro is absolutely right when he says the reason for the media love affair with Comey is their “mutual target”: Donald Trump.

Stephanopoulos goes there … As LevinTV host Mark Levin has been saying for over a year, the entire investigation of President Donald Trump isn’t about collusion. It’s about setting the stage for the impeachment of Donald Trump. On that front, George Stephanopoulos did not disappoint. Bill Clinton’s spokesman and current ABC newsman Stephanopoulos directly asked Comey about Trump’s fitness for office and impeachment. Comey answered that Trump was morally unfit to hold the office.

Comey also answered that he hopes Trump will not be impeached, because “impeaching and removing Donald Trump from office would let the American people off the hook.” So the American people are to blame? I wonder if that’s the answer that Stephanopoulos was looking for.

Clinton questions … A good portion of the Comey interview last night (transcript) was spent on Comey’s part in the Clinton email investigation. The media, of course, still blames Comey for Clinton’s loss. With that being said, why on earth, as NY Post columnist Karol Markowicz notes, is Bill Clinton’s press secretary interviewing people about Hillary Clinton? On what planet does that pass ethical muster?

Doesn’t fit the narrative …

Mental fitness … Speaking of the question posed to Comey about Trump’s fitness for office, our good friend Brian Stelter decided to highlight that portion of the interview transcript in a tweet. Now remember, Stelter has been overly focused on Trump’s “mental fitness” for office for months. As The Federalist’s James Hasson noted, Stelter – conveniently? – omitted this line: “I don't buy this stuff about him being mentally incompetent or early stages of dementia. He strikes me as a person of above average intelligence who's tracking conversations and knows what's going on.”

That line, of course, destroys Stelter’s months of narrative.

“That girl is poison” … On CNN’s “New Day” this morning, the gloves came off in an exchange between presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway and CNN anchor and Democratic scion Chris Cuomo. When Conway said that CNN was trying to imply President Trump is not cooperating with an “investigation that your network and others have alleged would lead to evidence of collusion with Russia,” Cuomo shot back that the network wasn’t doing that and that Conway was trying to “poison people’s minds.”

As Conway stated, CNN has dedicated almost every moment of programming over the past year to the Russian collusion story. If there is anyone trying to “poison people’s minds,” it’s CNN, by selectively presenting facts about the investigation. Watch the fiery exchange here.

Never-ending winter …

I want to apologize to a bunch of you I may have offended a week or two ago by talking about the nice weather here in the South. Apparently, even though it is April 16, winter has not yet ended in the Midwest and Northeast. I’m sorry. Here’s a hilarious video of a weatherman reacting to the never-ending dread. I hope that cheered you up.

I’ve been told by multiple meteorologists [narrator: no he hasn’t] that the length of winter is inversely proportional to the number of people who have signed up to receive the WTF MSM!? newsletter. So really, sending your friends over to the WTF MSM!? signup page is the sure cure for the extended winter blues. Also, don’t forget to send me a note over at reno@conservativereview.com if something you think I should know crosses your mind.
