WTF MSM!? Lauer “pinches me on the ass a lot”

Another “open secret” …

Who knew? … When my colleague Chris Pandolfo — you should follow him on Twitter — messaged me this morning with the news that NBC had fired “Today” host Matt Lauer over sexual misconduct claims, the first thing that popped into my mind was: Didn’t we already know this? It seems like we did. There was at least one rumored story about Lauer having an affair with a coworker from two years ago. I broke it all down in a piece at Conservative Review earlier today.

Why is it always a surprise? … Earlier today I discussed the Lauer story in a Facebook Live. I broke down who knew what, when, and how earlier rumors seem a lot like textbook sexual harassment. That story of Lauer and his coworker’s “consensual” affair, if true, had the same power dynamics that the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky relationship had. Watch here.

Lauer “pinches me on the ass a lot” … Here’s a story I had not seen before publishing my piece on Lauer’s “open secret.” The New York Post’s “Page Six” reports that in 2012, former “Today” co-host Katie Couric said Lauer “pinches me on the ass a lot.” Wait, what? Then there is this cringeworthy clip from “Today” with Lauer in his underwear. HOLD ON, is that former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager?

Hurting democracy? …

About that First Amendment … The Left loves to single out President Trump for fighting with the media, and how that “hurts democracy.” But it is the Left that has the long history of using the state to control speech they don’t like. The Fairness Doctrine and campaign finance regulations are two cases in point. You can add Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s latest actions at a Senate hearing to the list. The Cato Institute’s John Samples reports that after Feinstein questioned Google’s general counsel about the search rankings of Russia Today, the company “de-ranked” the outlet. That’s chilling.

Good for Trevor Noah … Last night, Trevor Noah called out Fauxcahontas Elizabeth Warren for her claims — without evidence — of Cherokee ancestry. Good for him. He is one of the few left-wing entertainment/media types willing to do so. Watch the clip.

Cokie FLASHBACK … I should have searched my email yesterday morning … Last night, on a lark, I searched my Gmail accounts for “Cokie Roberts.” I get a lot of newsletters, and I wanted to see if there was something I missed. I did, and it is a doozy. I mentioned in yesterday’s email that Roberts’ job was to hold the powerful accountable. Well, just two weeks ago, that is exactly what she told HLN’s S.E. Cupp. In light of her “everybody knew” comments over the weekend about John Conyers, you need to see this clip to believe it.

Tell a friend …

I can’t fight back alone against the mainstream media. I need your help. There are two ways you can help. First, send your friends – and even your enemies – over to the WTF MSM!? email signup page. Second, email me at reno@conservativereview.com with anything questionable you see the media do. Together, we can fight back.
