Greenfield tries his best … Former CNN anchor Jeff Greenfield appeared on the network’s “Reliable Sources” show this weekend. The topic was media coverage of the first year of President Donald Trump. Greenfield was taken aback by co-panelist Neera Tanden of the Center for American Progress, whose laughable take was that the media has not been sufficiently anti-Trump. Greenfield was incredulous, saying of Tanden’s New York Times claim, “Well, if you are a regular reader of The New York Times, for the last two and a half years you have gotten a full dose of view that Donald Trump is hellaciously unfit to be president.”
Greenfield also categorized CNN’s coverage over the year as leading viewers to believe that at any moment, Trump would be indicted. NewsBusters has the video; take a look.
Voters don’t care … CNN’s Maeve Reston appeared on the network Sunday morning to talk about the issues that matter to voters across the country. She was perhaps a little too honest for CNN’s liking. After saying that voters care about the economy, which she admitted there is less anxiety over, Reston dropped this truth bomb:
You don’t feel that as much any more [economic anxiety], and I’m so interested to see how the Russia investigation affects things, because so far out in these districts, when you talk to people about Russia, and that’s all we talk about at CNN, basically, they say they don’t care. It doesn’t have any effect on their lives.
Exactly. Voters other than those already predisposed to loathe President Trump do not care about the issue. Watch for yourself.
End of an era … As an outside salesman in the latter half of the 1990s, I listened to a LOT of Don Imus. His show was a must-listen if you were involved in, or intrigued by, politics. Today, the 77-year-old Imus announced that he is involuntarily retiring, after Cumulus decided to not renew his radio program. It’s hard to be politically incorrect in a politically correct world. It’s a sad day. Thanks for the memories, John Donald Imus. At your height, there was not a better political interviewer in the business.

Mansplaining, Stephanopoulos style … In today’s politically correct culture, there is almost no greater sin than that of a man explaining something to a woman or questioning her judgment. Unless, of course, that woman is a conservative and it is a left-wing ideologue giving the explanation. Perhaps that is why ABC’s George Stephanopoulos thought it was appropriate to mansplain to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders about Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s knowledge of what is in the continuing resolution. Stephanopoulos actually asked Sanders, “Do you really want to be questioning Senator Schumer’s knowledge of this legislation?” NewsBusters has the video.
You will not use THAT phrase … MSNBC’s Joy Reid buys so far into the Left’s position on immigration that she, in true Orwellian fashion, will not allow her guests to use the phrase “illegal immigration,” even though that is the precise term under U.S. law. The conversation came in a panel discussion on immigration and the shutdown. She even admitted she was doing so to “change the conversation.”
My thoughts … This morning, I appeared on Cheddar TV’s “Opening Bell” to talk about the shutdown. You can take a look here. The segment starts at about 22:51.
It was a harrowing weekend in the shut-down national capital. While I didn’t see dead people strewn about the streets, like Sen. Feinstein said there would be, I imagine it was because they all died after the tax cuts passed. There is nothing better to celebrate survival than the FREE gift of WTF MSM!?
