WTF MSM!? NYT blames Sarah Palin!

NY Times displays gross incompetence …

It’s Sarah Palin’s fault, y’all … The New York Times editorial on the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise, R.- La., a congressional aide, a lobbyist, and a Capitol Police officer tried to examine the reasons for the attack. It can’t be the toxic coverage of Republicans in the mainstream media alone. It has to be the GOP’s fault somehow. So the editorial board brought up the lie that the lunatic who shot Rep. Gabby Giffords and killed six people did it because Sarah Palin told him to.

What did they say? Here’s what the Times wrote: “The link to political incitement was clear. Before the shooting, Sarah Palin’s political action committee circulated a map of targeted electoral districts that put Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs.” The targeted electoral map is a long-standing graphic design element that Democrats used a version of as well.

“No sign of incitement as direct” … The Times went on to say that in this case, there was “no sign of incitement as direct as in the Giffords attack.” Perhaps the Times editorial board would do well to read their own newspaper. In January 2011, a four reporter team reported of the man who shot Giffords, “[H]is anger would well up at the sight of President George W. Bush.” By all accounts, the man who shot Giffords had no core political belief, and there is no evidence that he ever saw the mailer the idiots at the Times still blame for the shooting.

Time to bring back a public editor … It is editorials like this, devoid of either fact or logic, that show the need for the Times to have someone, anyone, with a differing view in their halls of power. They did, and they fired her. Last month the Times fired its public editor – and eliminated the position – who warned about the paper’s clear bias.

Laughable correction ... Late Thursday morning, the Times issued a correction to the editorial, saying that there was no link between the "incitement" and the shooting. The updated text is not any better. Defiantly, the Times still implies there was a link, using the journalistic standard of "some people say."

It's not just the Times that can’t see straight …

Wolf Blitzer confused … During his coverage yesterday, Wolf Blitzer read the social media rantings of the alleged shooter. Blitzer seemed confused at the posts and especially phrases like “American Taliban“ and “traitor Trump.” I have personally been called a member of the “American Taliban,” and people who interact with me call Trump a “traitor” and treasonous on a daily basis. It is as if Blitzer has never seen social media before.

Back to American Taliban … Blitzer should look to the people his network promotes to get to the bottom of the use of “American Taliban.” Vox’s Matthew Yglesias, writing then for Think Progress, said, “As the world waits with bated breath for the release date of Markos Moulitsas’ American Taliban: How War, Sex, Sin, and Power Bind Jihadists and the Radical Right …”That’s right, the guy who runs The Daily Kos coined the phrase American Taliban, and leftists have used it to describe conservatives ever since.

Back to Think Progress … Think Progress is an imprint of the Center for American Progress, the “non-profit” started by John Podesta, whose “resistance rally” CNN covered wall to wall. CNN contributor Van Jones was affiliated with CAP around the time of that Think Progress piece. Dear Wolf, here’s a mirror.

Uday and Qusay Trump … This one is from a while back, but it shows the media narrative that may have led to the shooting yesterday. While Wolf Blitzer lived in his CNN bubble, Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews over on MSNBC were casually comparing Trump’s kids and Jared Kushner to murderous thugs Uday and Qusay Hussein. You’ll remember Uday and Qusay were the sons of brutal Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. Get it, LOL, Trump is Saddam.

Help me fight back …
