WTF MSM!? #ReleaseTheMemo is as American as apple pie

No, it can’t be true …

American as apple pie … Last week the hashtag #ReleaseTheMemo started trending on Twitter. It was in response to multiple members of the U.S. House talking about a memo that reportedly outlines abuses by the DOJ and FBI surrounding the “Russia investigation.” The Left immediately sprang into action saying it was Russian bots, not the American public, responsible for making #ReleaseTheMemo go viral and trend on Twitter. Even Fox News’ CNN wannabe, Shep Smith, jumped into the fray, breathlessly asking an Axios reporter if the bots in question were the same ones “working during the election.”

Shep didn’t do his homework. A day prior to his segment, The Daily Beast reported a source said an internal Twitter analysis showed that #ReleaseTheMemo was an organic phenomenon from Americans, not the Russians. You see, to the Left and the media, there is no way actual Americans could think the FBI may be corrupt and anti-Trump. The only real opinion any red-blooded American should have is: Donald Trump is an existential threat to the republic and a Kremlin asset. How dare you or anyone else think otherwise?

“Chilling speech” … The Federalist’s David Harsanyi has a fantastic take on the media and Left calling for Facebook and Twitter to fight the Russian bots that were no doubt responsible for #ReleaseTheMemo. He particularly targets Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, and Dianne Feinstein, the former chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Harsanyi argues that what is really going on is an attempt at “chilling speech.” His arguments are spot-on. By asking social media companies to actively combat trending stories Schiff and Feinstein don’t like, what they are really trying to do is stifle speech.

This isn’t the first time Feinstein has floated such a notion. She advocated for a de facto licensure of journalists a while back. Feinstein tried to insert language into a journalism shield law that would have ensured only “real reporters” would be protected from prosecution for not revealing sources.

Three times an hour … Earlier this week I told you about Maeve Reston, the CNN reporter who said on the air this Sunday that the Russia investigation is “all we talk about at the network.” The good folks at the Washington Free Beacon decided to investigate the claim. During 20 hours of new programming on CNN Tuesday, the words “Russia Investigation” were uttered 61 times. The video is hilarious and sad at the same time. Here, take a look.

Of course …

Act locally … In yet another iteration in its ongoing campaign to decide which posts you see, Facebook is testing a new feature highlighting “news and discussions happening in your city.” The test is being run in Olympia, Washington, and BuzzFeed takes us through it. Here’s a notion, Facebook: Why not let us easily see what our friends and the pages we subscribe to are saying and allow us to customize our own feeds?

Piers scores Trump … If you’ve been following former CNN host Piers Morgan’s social media streams, you’d see he often defends President Trump against the media. Morgan was a contestant on “Celebrity Apprentice” and personally knows the president. Morgan’s relationship with Trump has earned him a major coup. Morgan will interview the president for ITV, the British television network where Morgan co-hosts a morning show. The interview will air on January 28 at 10 p.m. local time in the U.K.

Still free of government censors …

Schiff, Feinstein, and others who want speech censored have not yet been able to censor this newsletter. WTF MSM!? remains an uncensored zone – OK, my commas get censored by my editors, but besides that, nothing is censored. Invite your friends to join the uncensored fun by sending them over to the WTF MSM!? email signup page. If you want to see all the commas my editors have killed, email me at reno@conservativereview.com. I have pictures of a very large comma graveyard. You can also tell me anything questionable you see the media do. Together, we can fight back.
