Networks “downplay” … The most troubling part of the DNC/Clinton dossier scandal remains that a candidate for president and her political party paid a foreign intelligence operative for dirt on their political rival. Yet the broadcast news networks that went wall-to-wall “Russia, Russia, Russia” have attempted to downplay that significance. NewsBusters has the story.

NBC/ABC News rocked by scandal …

Halperin accused of sexual harassment … CNN reported that five women accused NBC News journalist Mark Halperin of sexual harassment when he was at ABC News. Halperin for his part, told CNN that he tried to start relationships with female colleagues, including those who were his junior.

NBC News suspends … NBC News has suspended Halperin in light of the allegations.

There’s a tweet for that … In October of 2016, Halperin mused: “When people say some new Trump tape could have material that is WORSE than the @accesshollywood video, what exactly could be WORSE?!?”

Creepy … The Free Beacon’s Alex Griswold reminds us of a cringe-worthy segment of Halperin and one of his now-accusers regarding why she wants guns to protect herself. Here, watch.

Bananas …

John King caught in on-air lie … In the first of my periodic fact checks regarding CNN on-air talent, John King received 5 bananas for his lie about who controlled Congress from 2009-2010. He uttered the lie in an attempt to downplay the investigation into the Clinton-Obama Russian uranium scandal. Here’s why I awarded him the prize.

Did I say periodic? I meant frequent … I was going to make these fact checks more of a periodic thing, until early this morning I read Chris Cillizza’s daily email. He had a whopper of a lie in a section attacking Donald Trump and defending Jeff Flake. So, in fewer than 18 hours, I awarded Cillizza the second 5 banana prize.

Why bananas? … If you missed my emails earlier this week, I’m awarding bananas because CNN deigned itself the arbiter of what an “apple” is (truth) and what a “banana” is (lie). The NRA has a great spin on the CNN claim. This is a [Don] Lemon.
