Yes, Trump is right: Anna Wintour might have been Clinton's choice for UK ambassador

In a tweet Thursday morning, President Trump pointed out Vanity Fair's bias in apologizing for publishing something critical of Hillary Clinton. He also claimed that a Clinton victory would have made Anna Wintour the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. Wintour is the editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine and the artistic director for Condé Nast, the publisher of both Vogue and Vanity Fair.

It turns out, President Trump is correct. Wintour was indeed considered a front-runner for the post. According to Mike Allen, the editor of Axios, she was one of two potential options for ambassador to the U.K., along with Thomas Nides, an Obama State Department official.

Wintour was also reported as a “leading contender” for Barack Obama’s U.K. ambassador post, but she lost out to Matthew Barzan, who was one of the former president’s top bundlers.

The fashion mag apologized Thursday for publishing a piece that mocked Hillary Clinton’s apparent life mission to become president.

The article was met with exasperation from much of the legacy media. The Washington Post shrieked, “Vanity Fair staffers provide snotty, condescending life tips for Hillary Clinton.” Pro-Hillary media personalities even demanded a boycott of the publication.

The pressure campaign forced Vanity Fair to heel. “It was an attempt at humor and we regret that it missed the mark,” reads a statement from the website.
