AOC tries to ensnare Bobulinski, but she accidentally exposes her own ignorance of the law instead: 'RICO is not a crime'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) tried to corner former Hunter Biden business associate Tony Bobulinski on Wednesday — but it didn't work.

At a contentious House Oversight Committee hearing, Ocasio-Cortez asked Bobulinski a "simple" question: "Is it your testimony today that you personally witnessed President Joe Biden commit a crime?"

"Yes," Bobulinski responded. "How much time do I have to go through it?"

What happened next led to Ocacio-Cortez becoming the target of online mockery, for she exposed her own ignorance of the law while trying to score political points.

After Bobulinski's affirmation, she demanded that he "name" the crimes that he allegedly witnessed President Joe Biden commit. Bobulinski cited the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, the Foreign Agents Registration Act, "corruption statutes," and conspiracy.

"What is the crime, sir? Specifically?!" Ocasio-Cortez demanded.

"You ask me to answer the question. I answered the question," Bobulinski responded. "RICO — you're obviously not familiar with — corruption statutes, FARA —"

"Excuse me, sir!" Ocasio-Cortez interjected. "RICO is not a crime. It is a category. What is the crime?"

Despite her condescending posture, Bobulinski informed Ocasio-Cortez that RICO is a "category of crimes" and asked if she wanted him to list the specific statutes he believes Biden broke. When Ocasio-Cortez said yes, Bobulinski tried — though he explained it was unnecessary because most of the lawmakers at the hearing are lawyers — but Ocasio-Cortez cut him off.

Unfortunately for Ocasio-Cortez, she is mostly wrong.

While the acronym "RICO" is not a crime per se, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act is a federal statute codified in Title 18 of the U.S. Criminal Code with all other criminal law and criminal procedure.

"This is bizarre. RICO — the Racketeer Influenced & Corrupt Organizations Act, 18 U.S.C. §§ 1961–1968 — is most assuredly a crime. It often results in massive felony sentences," explained Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), an experienced lawyer.

As Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) concluded, "Someone needs to remind the Left, just because you are loud, does not mean you are right."

Ilhan Omar fails to heed warning from AOC, gets caught spreading false claims of 'child genocide' in Gaza

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) was caught spreading misinformation about the Israel-Hamas war over the weekend.

On Saturday, Omar reposted a post on X showing dead children wrapped in white cloth. The post declared, "CHILD GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE ... 614 Palestinian children murdered by the Israeli IOF Forces."

But the heartbreaking photo was not taken in Gaza. In fact, the photo is a decade old and shows child victims of a sarin gas attack launched by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's military forces in eastern Ghouta in August 2013.

Omar later — and quietly — deleted her repost. It no longer appears in her feed on X.

The Minnesota Democrat spread the false information just days after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) decried the level of misinformation being spread on social media about the Israel-Hamas conflict.

In a social media post, Ocasio-Cortez offered advice that Omar apparently failed to heed: Verify information before spreading it.

"The level of misinformation in all directions at this moment is incredibly high, especially on this platform," Ocasio-Cortez said. "If you see a claim, photo, or video that triggers a strong emotional reaction, take a moment to pause and check for veracity/confirmation from multiple sources."

Despite Hamas' brutal attack against innocent Israelis, Omar has been heavily critical of Israel's full military response.

Last Monday, Omar falsely accused Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant of referring to Palestinians as "human animals" when, in fact, he was referring to Hamas terrorists. She also accused Israel of dishing out "collective punishment, a war crime" on Gaza. There is no evidence of this. On the contrary, Israel takes significant steps — text messages, paper leaflets, etc. — to warn Gazan civilians about forthcoming airstrikes and has urged civilians to move away from future targets.

Earlier this year, Omar was booted from the House Foreign Affairs Committee for her history of anti-Semitic remarks, which had been condemned by Republicans and Democrats alike.

Blaze News reached out to a representative for Rep. Omar but did not immediately receive a response.

Riley Gaines busts AOC for claiming to defend women from Republicans — and she brings the receipts with her

Former collegiate swim star Riley Gaines shut down Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Thursday for pretending to defend women.

During the second Republican primary debate on Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez criticized Chris Christie for attacking President Joe Biden's defense of teachers' unions. Biden, Christie said, is "sleeping with a member of the teachers' union." The comment mirrors what Biden himself said two years ago.

Still, the remark was fodder for an Ocasio-Cortz attack.

"It's disgusting, misogynistic, and if Republicans want to continue pissing off an entire nation of women, please be my guest," she responded. "We'll see you at the ballot box."

Gaines, a fierce defender of women and fairness in athletics, took exception to Ocasio-Cortez's assertion that she is a true defender of women.

How can that be, Gaines wondered, when Ocasio-Cortez voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act and supports editing Title IX to allow biological men who identify as trans women to compete in women's sports?

"Is this the same AOC that said upholding Title IX as it was intended is 'indefensible and embarrassing'? Because surely the person saying women don't deserve equal opportunities wouldn't call someone else a misogynist without first claiming to be one herself," Gaines responded.

"Words mean nothing without actions to support it," she added. "AOC doesn't care about women's safety, privacy, equal opportunities, or dignity as made clear by her vote on HR 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act."

"This displayed contempt for women is the definition of misogyny," Gaines declared, showing Ocasio-Cortez's "nay" vote on the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

Earlier this year, the Biden administration proposed a rule that would allow schools to prohibit trans athletes from competing on sports teams in the interest of preserving rights under Title IX. The rule generated criticism from activists on both sides of the issue, despite barring blanket bans but allowing fairness to prevent biological men from competing against biological women in high school and collegiate athletics.

In response, Ocasio-Cortez called the rule "indefensible," "embarrassing," and a "disgrace."

Meanwhile, the House passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act this spring — no thanks to Ocasio-Cortez — but it was killed in the Senate.
