Alex Berenson says leaked emails show Pfizer board member and top Biden adviser secretly conspired to get him banned from Twitter

Former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson claimed that a prominent Pfizer board member and a former top Biden administration adviser secretly pressured Twitter to censor him on the social media platform over his questions about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Berenson believes that he was banned from Twitter because of the influence of a senior board member of Pfizer. Citing emails obtained through discovery in his lawsuit against Twitter, Berenson accused Scott Gottlieb of pressuring Twitter leadership to permanently suspend his account.

Gottlieb was the commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration from 2017 to 2019; he resigned and was named to Pfizer's board of directors three months later.

Berenson wrote in his "Unreported Truths" Substack on Thursday, "Gottlieb — whom Pfizer pays almost $400,000 a year to serve on its board, including its highest-level 'executive committee' — began the final act in a secret months-long conspiracy to suppress my basic American right to free speech."

Berenson claimed that corporate, private, and federal conspirators "wanted to block my reporting about the failure of the mRNA COVID vaccines," adding, "They wanted to suppress debate about the necessity for vaccine boosters or mandates."

"They wanted Twitter, the most important global platform for journalism, to ban me, even though Twitter had repeatedly found my posts did not violate its rules," Berenson alleged. "They wanted to soil my reputation as a reporter and damage me and my family financially."

In August 2021, Berenson wrote a Substack piece titled: "Quite frankly: The arrogance of Anthony Fauci, and what it means for the rest of us." Within hours of the article being published, Gottlieb shared the piece with a Twitter employee via email, according to Berenson. The Substack article includes an alleged screenshot of the leaked email.

Gottlieb purportedly said in the email, "This is what's promoted on Twitter. This is why Tony needs a security detail."

Despite Gottlieb's insinuation that Berenson was putting Fauci in danger, the journalist insisted, "My Substack piece about 'Tony' did not threaten or harass him in any way. It merely called him 'arrogant' and a 'skilled courtier' and mocked his infamous comment that criticizing him was 'attacking science.'"

Berenson wrote, "Four days after Gottlieb sent that email – and just 24 hours after he had a secret conference call with Twitter employees about me – Twitter permanently banned me, claiming I had violated its rules on COVID misinformation."

A Twitter spokesperson said Berenson's account was "permanently suspended for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation rules."

Berenson argued that the tweet was "entirely accurate" and added, "I can't wait to hear what a jury will make of this."

Berenson filed a federal lawsuit against Twitter in December that alleged the big tech corporation "acted on behalf of the federal government in censoring and barring him [from] its platform."

Twitter settled the lawsuit in July, and Berenson's official account was restored.

Berenson noted, "Twitter has acknowledged that my tweets should have not led to my suspension at that time."

Berenson claimed that his lawsuit revealed internal Slack messages between Twitter employees discussing a meeting they had with members of President Joe Biden's administration in August 2021.

One Twitter employee told another, "They had one really tough question about why Alex Berenson hasn't been kicked off the platform."

"They really wanted to know about Alex Berenson," read another screen capture of a conversation between Twitter employees. "Andy Slavitt suggested they had seen data viz [visualization] that had showed he was the epicenter of disinfo that radiated outwards to the persuadable public."

A Twitter employee allegedly informed a colleague that Slavitt described Berenson's reporting on the pandemic as an obstacle to convincing the "persuadable public" to take COVID-19 vaccines.

At the time of the meeting, Andy Slavitt served as a senior White House COVID-19 adviser until he left the Biden administration in June 2021.

"Slavitt and Gottlieb know each other well," Berenson asserted. "In April 2020, they co-authored a letter to Congress demanding expanded COVID contact tracing efforts. They also appeared together on interviews, including on Slavitt’s own 'In The Bubble' podcast, which Pfizer sponsors."

Speaking about social media platforms with CNBC in July 2021, Gottlieb said, “If they’re giving someone a very big platform to distribute information, they have an obligation to look at the information that’s being distributed. I do think that they have an affirmative responsibility here, and in some cases they’re not doing it."

In July 2021, the White House admitted that senior staff members were working with Facebook to flag "problematic posts" regarding COVID.

"This is a big issue of misinformation, specifically on the pandemic," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

"In terms of actions ... that we have taken, or we're working to take, I should say, from the federal government, we've increased disinformation research and tracking within the surgeon general's office," Psaki proclaimed. "We're flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation."

Also in mid-July 2021, President Biden accused social media companies of "killing people" for not taking action against COVID misinformation. He added, "The only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated."

Berenson wrote, "A few hours after Biden’s comment, Twitter locked me out of my account for the first time. On July 27, it gave me a third 'strike,' and on July 30, a fourth – this time for a tweet that did nothing but accurately reflect the results of a Pfizer clinical trial."

On July 31, 2021, Slavitt allegedly wrote an email to a Twitter employee that read: "If he doesn't go permanently after this, the outcry will be justified."

Berenson was permanently banned from Twitter on Aug. 28, 2021.

On Thursday night, Berenson appeared on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" to discuss his accusations of censorship by Twitter that he blames on Gottlieb and Slavitt.

Berenson told host Tucker Carlson that Slavitt – Biden's White House senior advisdr for the COVID response – was in communication with Twitter about Berenson as early as April 2021. Berenson said Slavitt told Twitter he was a problem for the White House and asked the social network why it hadn't banned him.

Berenson then accused Gottlieb of getting him banned from Twitter.

"And then Scott Gottlieb – who is a director of Pfizer on the executive committee of Pfizer, which has made tens of billions of dollars from selling these vaccines – went to Twitter and said, 'This guy is a problem,' and then they banned me," Berenson told Carlson.

Berenson announced on Thursday that he plans to file a new lawsuit and has sent “demand letters” to Gottlieb, Pfizer, and Slavitt.

He said, "We have several grounds, likely including a conspiracy to interfere with my civil rights – in this case, my First Amendment right to free speech."

Biden Official Who Got Twitter To Censor Alex Berenson Has History Of Publishing Misinformation

If Republicans take over one or both chambers of Congress, they should subpoena not just Twitter executives, but Democrat official Andy Slavitt as well.

Alex Berenson claims Biden administration pressured Twitter to ban him, reveals damning evidence from lawsuit against big tech giant

Journalist Alex Berenson – an outspoken critic of the government's COVID-19 response – claimed that the Biden administration privately pressured Twitter to ban him from the social media platform.

In August 2021, Berenson was permanently suspended from the social media platform for alleged "repeated violations" of Twitter's COVID-19 misinformation rules. After being banned, Berenson launched a lawsuit against the social media giant.

Berenson said he obtained internal Slack messages of Twitter employees from the lawsuit.

The messages featured Twitter employees meeting with President Joe Biden's team in 2021. The Twitter employee said the White House's questions were "pointed," but "mercifully, we had answers."

One Twitter told another, "They had one really tough question about why Alex Berenson hasn't been kicked off the platform."

"They really wanted to know about Alex Berenson," read another screen capture of a conversation between Twitter employees. "Andy Slavitt suggested they had seen data viz [visualization] that had showed he was the epicenter of disinfo that radiated outwards to the persuadable public."

At the time of the meeting, Andy Slavitt served as a senior White House COVID-19 adviser until he left the Biden administration in June 2021.

"According to an interview he gave to the Washington Post in June 2021, Slavitt worked directly with the most powerful officials in the federal government, including Ron Klain, President Biden’s chief of staff, and Biden himself," Berenson wrote on his Substack titled "Unreported Truths."

A Twitter employee said of Berenson's tweets, "I've taken a pretty close look at his account and I don’t think any of it’s violative."

Berenson wrote, "On July 16, 2021, President Biden complained publicly that social media companies were 'killing people' by encouraging vaccine hesitancy. A few hours after Biden’s comment, Twitter suspended my account for the first time."

Four months after the meeting, Berenson's Twitter account was permanently banned.

He was deplatformed for a tweet about the COVID-19 vaccine that read, "It doesn’t stop infection. Or transmission. Don’t think of it as a vaccine. Think of it – at best – as a therapeutic with a limited window of efficacy and terrible side effect profile that must be dosed IN ADVANCE OF ILLNESS. And we want to mandate it? Insanity."

Berenson and Twitter settled the lawsuit. Berenson was reinstated on Twitter in July. As part of the settlement, Twitter acknowledged that Berenson's tweets "should not have led to his suspension at that time."

Berenson wrote, "The documents contain other revelations, including emails showing that other reporters asked Twitter to take action against me; I will report on those in the future."

The former New York Times journalist told Fox News, "I hope and expect to have more information to report soon."

He threatened to hit Slavitt with a lawsuit.

Berenson tweeted on Saturday, "Crickets from Andy Slavitt to explain/apologize for his appearance as the Biden Administration’s Censor-in-Chief in the Twitter documents today. I guess he hasn’t been online! It’s okay, depositions will clear everything up."

Berenson asked Slavitt, "Remember how you tried to use the power of the federal government to deplatform me?" He added, "Time to lawyer up."

"This is state action and a violation of my First Amendment rights, period," Mr. Berenson wrote on Twitter. "Berenson v. Biden (and Slavitt), coming soon to a federal court near you."

In May, Berenson wrote an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal titled "My Lawsuit Will Shine a Light on Twitter Censorship."

"The White House began publicly pressuring social-media companies to censor vaccine skeptics," he wrote in the article. "A spokeswoman said officials were 'reviewing' whether companies could be held liable for 'misinformation' posted by users despite Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which courts have interpreted to give the companies near-complete immunity for decisions they make to allow or censor content."

"Censorship by these vastly powerful companies is antithetical to the advancement of science and basic democratic principles, both of which require open debate," Berenson argued. "But the companies and government have closely guarded the secrets of how they work together—including whether and how they target dissenters like me."

'Go to hell': Glenn Beck TORCHES Biden adviser who said Americans should have ‘sacrificed a little bit’ more during COVID

Former senior COVID adviser for the Biden administration Andy Slavitt suggested Americans should have "sacrificed a little bit more" to get through the pandemic during an interview with CBS' "This Morning" earlier this week.

Asked by host Tony Dokoupil how much of the pandemic was preventable, Slavitt responded by first blaming the Trump administration, then all Americans in general for not sacrificing enough.

"We obviously had a set of technical mistakes with the testing and the PPE that we know about. But if we're honest, there were also two other mistakes, that caused a lot of loss of life. One was just plainly political leadership mistakes. We denied the virus for too long under the Trump White House. There was too much squashing under divisions," Slavitt said.

"But I also think we all need to look at one another and ask ourselves, 'What do we need to do better next time?' And in many respects, being able to sacrifice a little bit for one another to get through this and to save more lives is going to be essential. And it's something that I think we could all have done a little bit better on," he continued.

On the radio program, Glenn Beck had more than a few fiery words for Slavitt, who is apparently unaware of the terrible toll this pandemic has had on the mental, physical, and emotional health of millions of Americans.

"We could have sacrificed a little bit more?" he asked. "So, the sacrifice of [nearly] 40% of all businesses now being closed, I mean permanently out of business ... was that sacrifice good enough? Or the fact that teen suicide now is up by 31%? A few more of us should have sacrificed our children, you know, throw them up on the altar of Anthony Fauci? I think we could have done it, right?"

"Go to hell," Glenn added. "Who do you think you are, telling us that we should sacrifice more?"

Top Biden COVID adviser: 'I would absolutely tip my hat' to Trump for Operation Warp Speed

President Joe Biden's White House senior adviser for COVID-19 response acknowledged Thursday that former President Donald Trump and his administration deserve credit for the development and rollout of coronavirus vaccines under Operation Warp Speed.

Andy Slavitt said he would "absolutely" tip his hat to them for their accomplishments.

What are the details?

Slavitt told Fox News that he was grateful for the work done on vaccines prior to Biden taking office, saying, "I would absolutely tip my hat" when asked by host Bill Hemmer about his take on the success of Operation Warp Speed.

"This is a scientific process that actually began more than a decade ago with scientists inside the NIH...creating this mRNA vaccine," Slavitt said..

He added, "I think the Trump administration made sure that we got — in record time — a vaccine up and out. That's a great thing and something we should all be excited about."

Hemmer then asked Slavitt why other members of the Biden administration "were talking about the shelves being empty," noting, "on inauguration day, you had what. 1.5 million shots in the arms of Americans."

"Look, I don't think this is an effort to point fingers," Slavitt replied.

Politico reported:

The Biden administration has previously said that the Trump administration left them "a mess" on Covid vaccination and President Joe Biden himself called Trump's vaccine rollout in the early days a "dismal failure."

Vice President Kamala Harris even told Axios last month that the Biden administration had to start from "scratch," a claim Dr. Anthony Fauci had shot down weeks prior when he said "we certainly are not starting from scratch" on vaccine distribution.

Slavitt was also asked whether Biden would give Trump any credit for his role in the vaccine rollout when the president addresses the nation Thursday evening.

"He will try to look forward and talk about the commitments that he has made and that we've got to make to getting the country vaccinated, to getting people back up and standing," Slavitt replied. "Our view is there really are no bad guys here. We are going to succeed together or we are going to fail together."

Anything else?

President Trump issued a statement this week reminding the American public of the success of Operation Warp Speed, writing, "I hope everyone remembers when they're getting the COVID-19 (often referred to as the China Virus) Vaccine, that if I wasn't President, you wouldn't be getting that beautiful 'shot' for 5 years, at best, and probably wouldn't be getting it at all. I hope everyone remembers!"

Biden COVID adviser can’t explain why despite lockdowns, California's virus numbers are the same as Florida's

White House senior adviser for COVID response Andy Slavitt hard a hard time coming up with an answer this week when he was asked why California hasn't fared better against the coronavirus than Florida, despite the Golden State's lockdown policies.

What happened?

"I want to start with what we just saw," MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle said at the outset of the Wednesday interview. "Contrast states like Florida and California. California [is] basically in a lockdown and their numbers aren't that different from Florida."

New numbers coming out of both states have suggested, to the surprise of many public health experts, that states with harsh lockdown policies have not been more successful at combating the virus than states that adopted more open approaches.

Slavitt, appearing confounded, responded, "Look, there's so much of this virus that we think we understand, that we think we can predict, that's just a little bit beyond our explanation."

Then, without providing evidence, he claimed, "What we do know is that the more careful people are, the more they mask and social distance, and the quicker we vaccinate, the quicker it goes away and the less it spreads."

"But, we have got to get better visibility into variants — we don't know what role they play — umm, large events, etc.," he continued.

"But as we all have learned by this time, this is a virus that continues to surprise us," he added. "It's very hard to predict. And all around the country, we've got to continue to do a better job, and I think we are, but we're not done yet."

What else?

The Biden administration, which is endorses restrictive lockdown measures, has targeted Florida in recent days, floating the idea of imposing a domestic travel ban on the state to mitigate the spread of more contagious virus variants.

The notion immediately drew ire from Republicans in the state of Florida, including Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio.

DeSantis shot back, saying the potential plan "stinks to high heaven," and blasted the Biden administration for employing a blatant double standard, contrasting the potential travel ban with Biden's lax immigration enforcement.

"It is a huge contradiction and you can't square wanting opening borders for illegal aliens, but then also restricting U.S. citizens from basically traveling around the country as they see fit and I think the American people see the hypocrisy in that," he said.

Rubio wrote a letter to Biden slamming the idea as "an outrageous, authoritarian move that has no basis in law or science."

"Instituting a travel ban, or any restriction of movement between the states, would be an outrageous, authoritarian move that has no basis in law or science. Instead, it would only serve to inflict severe and devastating economic pain on an already damaged economy," the senator said in a statement.
